O objetivo é verificar, através da pesquisa bibliográfica, como a Pastoral da Criança utiliza a educação e a formação de lideranças para auxiliar no cuidado da saúde de mulheres e crianças e na formação de lideranças. A pastoral da criança tem o seu trabalho executado por pessoas voluntárias movidas pela solidariedade que, uma vez capacitadas, partilham o seu saber com as mulheres/mães em relação aos cuidados e com as pessoas menos favorecidas para a formação cidadã. A educação se mostra como ferramenta essencial no trabalho da pastoral da Criança porque, além de alfabetizar as pessoas, tem a sua pedagogia de ensino baseada no ensino a partir da realidade concreta das pessoas. Desta forma, verifica-se que a alfabetização ocorre concomitantemente à formação cidadã, transformando também as pessoas receptoras do serviço em agentes ativos e conscientes da sua tarefa cidadã. Conclui-se que a Pastoral da Criança acaba por auxiliar em importantes serviços para a saúde de mulheres e crianças, bem como na educação com a alfabetização, lacunas não preenchidas pelo Estado.The theme of the research is Children’s Ministry and its educational actions toward care and the formation of citizenship. The goal is to verify, through bibliographic research, how the Children’s Ministry uses education and the training of leaders to help in the health care of women and children and the training of leaders. The work of the children’s ministry is carried out by volunteers who are moved by solidarity, who, once they are capacitated, share their knowledge with the women/mothers with regard to caring and with the less privileged in the formation of citizens. Education is seen as an essential tool in the work of the Children’s Ministry because, besides providing literacy training for the people, it has its teaching pedagogy based on teaching from the concrete reality of the people. In this way, one can verify that literacy training occurs together with the citizen training, transforming the people who receive the services into active and aware agents of their citizen task.
