Temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) is the most common orofacial pain condition. Such dysfunction refers to a group of disorders, associated or not with pain or other triggering factors, since its etiology is multifactorial. Emotional factors such as anxiety, stress and depression may be involved in the etiology of TMD, influencing the individual's quality of life. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship of quality of life, anxiety, depression and burnout symptoms in adults with the diagnosis of TMD. This is an exploratory study and 99 adults of both sexes, residents of the first and second year of the major medical areas (medical clinic, general surgery, pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology) whose access to residence participated in the research. be direct, that is, you do not need to have resided in another area to enter the chosen residence of a School of Medicine in the state of São Paulo. For data collection, the RDC / TMD Questionnaire in Portuguese - Brazil, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and WHOQOL-Bref and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) were applied. Results: 70.7% of the participants were female and 29.3% male, they had an average age of 27 years. 96% of resident physicians had TMD, the prevalence of Burnout Syndrome was low. As for anxiety and depression, 51.5% and 74.8%, respectively, are unlikely for these variables. The quality of life was relatively good in these individuals. Conclusion: Based on the results obtained, we can conclude that there is TMD, anxiety and depression in first and second year resident physicians of this hospital in the state of São Paulo.
