Este trabalho, inscrito na linha de pesquisa “Práticas Educativas” do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ensino de Humanidades (PPGEH), do Instituto Federal do Espírito Santo, objetiva investigar estratégias para trabalhar o incentivo à leitura na biblioteca escolar, com reflexões sobre o ser humano, nas séries iniciais do Ensino Fundamental. Trata-se de uma reflexão sobre a realidade de práticas arraigadas na cultura da escola que identificam a biblioteca escolar como um local isolado, desvinculado de outros espaços, das atividades, e do dia a dia da escola, distanciada dos seus verdadeiros objetivos e de sua vocação natural que é o incentivo à leitura como prática social e atividade de uma humanização que leve o leitor a desvelar o mundo, as relações com o outro e consigo mesmo. Ancorada em autores como Silva, Freire, Cândido, Sorrenti, Petit, entre outros, é uma pesquisa de cunho qualitativo, do tipo pesquisa participante, que aspira analisar trabalhos na biblioteca com alunos das séries iniciais do Ensino Fundamental. O produto educacional resultante da pesquisa é a sistematização de uma sequência de atividades (oficinas) direcionadas a um trabalho com a leitura no espaço da biblioteca escolar, destinadas a bibliotecários, professores e interessados no tema. This final course work,islocated in the “Educational Practices” research line of the Postgraduate Program in Teaching Humanities (PPTH), from the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo. Its main objective is to investigate strategies to encourage reading in the school library, from a humanizing perspective, involving the first grades of Elementary School. Amid the harsh reality of practices rooted in school culture, the school library has the image of being an isolated place, detached from other spaces, activities, and the daily routine of the school, distancing itself from its objectives and it natural vocation, which is the encouragement of reading as a social practice and also a factor of humanization. It is a space that should be used to lead the reader to unveil the world, the relationships with others and with oneself. Based on several authors, this work is a qualitative research, being the type of participant research, whose general objective is to investigate strategies to encourage reading in the school library, approaching the human essence, through interaction with students in the first grades of elementary school. It also proposes to elaborate as an educational product a sequence of activities (workshops) to work on reading in the school library space for librarians, teachers and other educators.
