The present study is part of the line of research State, Policies and Educational Institutions. Based on the following question, it encourages answers: how did the municipalization process happen in the Departament of Education of the State of Goias from 2019 to 2022? To achieve answers, the study proposes, through the objectives discussing the consequences of municipalization in education. Demonstrate the dynamics observed in the municipalization process. Contextualize and interpret the legislation relating to the municipalization of education and the consequences of this process. To do this, what is the motivation behind answering the question? The need to understand public policy and the importance that municipalization has within this scenario in order to contribute to expanding the autonomy of municipalities within the educational context. The first chapter addresses a broader view of municipalization, bringing aspects within the national context. Surveying the main historical points. The second chapter contextualizes the scenario in the state of Goiás, in the period from 2019 to 2022, seeking a vision of the education department through the official documents that contributed to unveiling the educational policy that was practiced at the time. The third chapter addresses the municipalization processes that occurred during the period, focusing on the structure of administration as well as the relationship between each department and its contribution to municipalization. The educational policy practiced at all administrative levels is a reflection of the application of current laws. The 1988 Federal Constituition grants the smallest administrative entity increased autonomy. The Education Guidelines and Bases Law of 1996, with its municipalist bias, reinforces this autonomous character of municipalities, focusing though the student on the necessary condition to attract the necessary financial resources for educational provision. However, education financing should not be viewed in isolation. Contributing to its development, decentralization and deconcentration are more viable optins so that it becomes an additional option for the municipalization proposal
