Through a brief review on the emergence of the quilombo question in Brazil, and the advances of the social theories, we seek to investigate the conformation of the ethnic identity before the political and religious context in the urban quilombo Chácara das Rosas in Canoas -RS. The study privileged the bibliographical review and field research of an anthropological nature. The text results from qualitative research, in the ethnographic modality, because it seeks to understand the meanings attributed by the subjects themselves to their context, their culture, with the aim of apprehending the meanings regarding the process of conformation of ethnic identity. Within the perspective of contemporary social movements, the objective was to analyze and relate politics, religion and community trajectory, as observable and important elements for the conformation of ethnic identity. In order to do so, we sought to analyze the meaning of each subject ascribed to their religion, and to verify which elective affinity this group found to join Protestantism. To verify the hypothesis that politics, religion are the most important influencing factors in the construction of the ethnic identity of the Quilombo Urban Chácara das Rosas Remaining Community, each in its own way. However, religion determines the social actions of individuals. In competition for internal power between Protestants and Umbandists, each individual act, motivated by interests based on the world view offered by the belief to which it is attached. The increase in the number of evangelicals over time carries the risk of ethnic identity, since identities are shaped by cultural and religious aspects. In this sense the group found in the affiliation to neopentecostalismo means to attend to its interest of classes.
