This master dissertation named Memories of Popular Education in CEBs in Sanclerlândia from 1968 to 1989 belongs to the study field of Education, Culture and Society. This work aims at recuperating the popular education memories of Sanclerlândia from 1969-1989 whose reference is the Project of Popular Education from Goiás City. And it is also linked to a subproject of Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás. (PUC Goiás) and is part of a research project, coordinated by Federal University of Goiás - Live Memory Center: Documentation and Reference in Education for Youngsters and Adults, Popular Education and Social Movements of the Sate of Goiás (UFG/CMV). At the end of 1960 decade, agents from the progressive religious field, based on the Liberation Theology, started activities of popular education that aimed at liberating rural workers in the community of Monjolinho, a small village of Sanclerlândia district. The actions were stimulated and extended to a Diocesan progressive religious segment of Goiás City that developed experiences based on evangelization proposed by Diocesan Assemblies. The change of the evangelization content provoked conflicts in the religious field and traditional members of clergy backed off as well as the community people, especially the well-off ones. This experience led to the appearance of leaderships that took over the spaces in class entities, particularly in the board of directors of the Union of Rural Workers in Sanclerlândia. From the experience of popular education, there was the return of working class entities with a new characterization, called by the workers as the authentic union. This study was based on Pierre Bourdieu, Freire, Brandão and Barreiro theories. The methodology used was documental research and the basis of oral history, using the interview as a special technique.
