The aim of this study was to verify the efficacy of the Environmental Legislation face the reality of the Anicuns watershed headwater, in Goiânia County, Goiás, Brazil, because through this study it will be possible to make a reflection about our instruments of the role of the law, evaluating if its objective is being reached which is the protection of the environment and the society. For that, we used the data of another research in healthcare, simultaneously developed, in which 24 water and sediment samples were collected along the same watershed in August 2006, during drought period in the region. Multi- elementary chemical analyses were accomplished in these samples. From these 24 samples one was separated, the nearest from Anicuns watershed headwater, so that we could verify if the headwater has already been reached by the pollution. Chemical elements concentration results were not found in lab analysis. The problem refers to the fact that although the population knows that the watershed is polluted, due to the sludge and the strong scent it is still used as crops and orchards irrigation, which compromises the health care population living in the watershed. And this is due to the lack of an efficient State public neighborhood planning, as especially of the non enforcement of environmental legislation.
