This dissertation examines, with a primary focus, the implementation of the new concussion protocol of the International Football Association Board (IFAB) in partnership with the FIFA Protocol, seeking to understand its effectiveness and the new approaches it offers for the prevention of brain injuries in football. From a legal perspective, this dissertation aims to explain the importance of protecting fundamental rights in sports practice, relating it to the application of responsibility in this context. In pursuit of its intended purpose, it continues with the evolution of sports in general in the prevention of injuries and the defense of the health and physical integrity of practitioners, especially in matters relating to traumatic brain injuries, addressing the main actions of organizing federations in this regard. In order to understand the need for new sports regulations, a constitutional correlation is made with the obligation to provide the best health and safety conditions for athletes and citizens in general. Furthermore, it provides an understanding of the seriousness and importance of addressing the issue of concussions, whether in the sports world or in a general context, understanding the concepts, causes, and consequences. This dissertation argues that the IFAB protocol, by introducing the possibility of permanent substitution after proper evaluation of an athlete who has suffered a head impact and confirmed suspicion of concussion, represents a significant advancement. This measure, with proper interruption, allows for a more careful off-field assessment, reducing the risk of the player returning to the game with an undiagnosed injury, which could lead to second-impact syndrome, a potentially fatal condition. In addition to analyzing the protocol itself, the study explores the importance of a cultural shift in football. This includes educating athletes, coaches, and referees about the dangers of concussions and the importance of reporting symptoms, encompassing general awareness, the implementation of monitoring technologies, and the continuous adaptation of the rules of the game to prioritize the health of athletes
