This research takes as its premise that art, especially the theatrical art, is a valuable tool for building an Educator neighborhood, which can stimulate the liberating critical thinking as a condition for the education of citizens. Paulo Freire, considered the greatest thinker in the history of world pedagogy, and Patron of the Brazilian Education, is the reference of this research. Thus, this research aims to investigate the contribution of art, especially the theater, to the transformation of the community of Heliopolis (SP) into an Educator neighborhood. We intend with this research give light to the inclusion process of theatrical art in a community marked by violence and in profund transformation. To achieve the main goal, the following specific objectives were set: to identify the possibilities and limitations for the construction of an Educator neighborhood in Heliopolis and understand the concepts of artists, leaders, community and policymakers about the possibility of construction of this Educator neighborhood through art. The categories: dialogicity, participation and awareness, as displayed in Paulo Freire s pedagogy, are the critical sieves to study the artistic practices and educational relations developed in social facilities in the community of Heliopolis. This is a qualitative research, which includes document analysis, observation of practices carried out in the community, as well as interviews with leaders, teachers, students and local residents. We departed from a literature review of Paulo Freire s texts and related studies that discuss how art can be a way to the transforming education. We also analyzed documents of the community of Heliopolis and those that registered the movement of Educating Cities. The results showed that the awareness processes, social participation and dialogicity happened due to the history of the community and, despite art not being able to change by itself the reality, it may awaken and motivate new leaders and new movements in questioning the naturalization of social inequality
