Resumo: | The practice of literary reading offers considerable benefits to children when initiated in childhood, this can and should go beyond the confines of the school environment. This activity should be seen as something pleasurable, where the emphasis is in the pleasure of reading and not in the obligation to do so. Children's literature plays a fundamental role in serving as a basis for stimulating taste for literary reading, helping children to expand their imagination, creativity and interpretative skills. It is, above all, about opening up space for children and booksto free themselves from traditional boundaries, transforming reading into an act of freedom, which is therefore the central motivation of this research. Throughout the study, we delved into the importance of expanding access to literature beyond the walls of the school or library, that is, unblocking reading, books and children themselves by creating attractive environments where the act of reading is a pleasurable experience. From this starting point, the research problem is: how can children's literature in a barrier-free space contribute to promoting the democratization of access to reading and stimulating the pleasure of reading? What are the results of these actions in the formation of literary readers? In order to find answers to the questions raised, we established some research objectives. The main objective is to explore the proposal for an unfettered literary reading. This central objective was divided into specific goals: a) to evaluate the impact of the Reading in the Square Project since its implementation until today; b) to identify the literary preferences of kiosk visitors; c) to analyze how the Reading in the Square Project helps the formation of literary readers. In order to better understand the scope of barrier-free reading, considering public policies aimed at the formation of readers, it was necessary to study their regulations and to know in detail the kiosks where the actions take place. This study was conducted through sampling, since it is not feasible to visit all the locations where the kiosks are installed. In addition to the bibliographical research to obtain documentary information on the policy under analysis, additional readings related to the study theme were carried out, with the aim ofstrengthening the theoretical foundation |

In addition to the bibliographical research to obtain documentary information on the policy under analysis, additional readings related to the study theme were carried out, with the aim ofstrengthening the theoretical foundationA prática da leitura literária oferece benefícios consideráveis às crianças quando iniciada na infância, podendo e devendo ultrapassar os limites do ambiente escolar.
