Resumo: | The application of learning units in plane geometry brings the teacher a new way of teaching. The students reconstruct knowledge relating the everyday practices and knowledge to mathematics in order to enable meaningful learning. The research was conducted in a private school in the city of Farroupilha-RS with students from a class of adult education (EJA). Two different units of learning related to the content of plane geometry were applied. The first unit consisted of the confection of a graduation T-shirt, which was later used to elaborate clothes for dolls with the scraps of fabric. The second was the construction of the model of a house. In the investigation, data were collected from the students through two questionnaires used in class. Interviews were later conducted with six students in order to check their understanding and prior knowledge concerning the comprehension of the concepts of plane geometry. From the data analysis, it is possible to have a better comprehension of the EJA`s students, that generated qualitative and quantitative data and which were further submitted to a textual discursive analysis. To support this research, three authors were mentioned as theoretical reference. Pedro Demo, who believes in the reconstruction of knowledge through language; Paulo Freire, educator internationally recognized for his literacy method through awareness applied to lower classes; David Ausubel, responsible for the meaningful learning theory. It was concluded that the use of the learning units, combined with the students` knowledge, allowed a meaningful learning and thus having long-life geometric concepts. Furthermore, it was noticed that the teaching of mathematics can be reconstructed at any time, since it comes from the ideas and the interests of the students. The suggestions for teachers who want to work with UA, is to turn a simple class into a memorable moment for the students, changing the empirical knowledge into scientific knowledge. |

Os alunos reconstroem conhecimentos relacionando as pr?ticas e os saberes cotidianos com a matem?tica, permitindo uma aprendizagem significativa. A pesquisa foi aplicada em uma escola privada, da cidade de Farroupilha - RS, com alunos de uma turma de EJA. Foram aplicadas duas unidades de aprendizagem relacionadas ? geometria plana. A primeira unidade consistiu na confec??o de uma camiseta de formatura que, posteriormente, com os retalhos dos tecidos, serviu para a confec??o de roupa de boneca; a segunda, foi a constru??o da maquete de uma casa. Na investiga??o, foram levantados dados dos discentes, por meio de dois question?rios aplicados em aula; posteriormente, foram realizadas entrevistas com seis alunos, a fim de verificar a compreens?o e os conhecimentos pr?vios deles em rela??o aos conceitos de geometria plana. A partir da an?lise dos dados, p?de-se conhecer melhor o perfil dos alunos da EJA, que geraram dados qualitativos e quantitativos e que posteriormente foram submetidos ? an?lise textual discursiva. Para embasar a pesquisa, tr?s autores s?o utilizados como referencial. Pedro Demo, que acredita na reconstru??o do conhecimento por meio da linguagem; Paulo Freire, educador reconhecido mundialmente por seu m?todo de alfabetiza??o pela conscientiza??o, aplicado ?s classes populares; David Ausubel, respons?vel pela teoria da aprendizagem significativa. Concluiu-se que o emprego das unidades de aprendizagem, conjugadas aos saberes dos alunos, permitiram uma aprendizagemsignificativa e, portanto, duradoura dos conceitos geom?tricos.
