Resumo: | This research aimed to investigate the perceptions of psychologists and psychiatrists at Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS), i.e., about the presence and role of religiosity and spirituality (R/S) in clinical care and their respective relationships with the mental health of users. In such acontext, it sought to know the ways in which they deal with mental health and the R/S binomial in their clinical procedures. To reach the results we have taken into account the participation of twelve professionals who work in CAPS located in the Maranhão’s state and the Federal District of Brazil, i.e., considering for both cases three psychologists and three psychiatrists. These professionals were interviewed in depth, according to themes and axes related to these research objectives and in line with the phenomenological posture. All interviews were recorded, transcribed and revised. For the whole analysis, in addition to the phenomenological reading of the transcribed material, resources from the Iramuteq software were used, especially the dendrogram for hierarchical clustering and the Descending Hierarchical Classification (CHD). Besides, the phenomenological reading pointed out how the theme promotes mobilization in professionals. Furthermore, the use of the CHD has shown four large thematic classes, organized into subgroups. In the first, Class 4 - Psychopathology and Medical Discourse, has shown 77 Units of Elementary Contexts (ECU) (15.43 % of textual material). This subgroup encompassed Class 3 - Religiosity and Religion, with 91 ECU (18.24%). From this, a new branch composed Class 2 - Existence and Meaning, with 154 ECU (30.90%) of textual material, and Class 1 - Reflexibility and Profession, with a total of 177 ECU (35.47%). A comprehensive reading of these results pointed out that such a theme is very present in CAPS, as well as that professionals have shown predominantly positive relationships between R/S and mental health, although they also have point out negative relationships to a lesser extent. Likewise, the professionals located in the Maranhão statehave reported larger experience in relation of the integration between religious communities and activities developed in the physical environment of CAPS when compared to professionals from the Federal District of Brazil. However, in general, all of them reported ways of dealing with R/S, which were developed into clinical experience, or even by their own personal paths, since such the themes were not addressed throughout their formal training. Considering the relevance of the subject and its ethical implications, the characteristics of the services offered by the CAPS and the relevant implications of R/S for mental health, we can conclude that the themes need to be included not only in the curriculum of graduation of psychologists and psychiatrists, but also in the training of technicians working in mental health who will work in these institutions. |

Submitted by Rejaine Raimundo (rejaine@ucb.br) on 2023-08-23T18:25:10Z No. of bitstreams: 1 FlaviaGermanaDissertacaoParcial2023.pdf: 569831 bytes, checksum: 56a1bb55e978fdb9f8ba5309261af3af (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Sara Ribeiro (sara.ribeiro@ucb.br) on 2023-09-15T17:13:40Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 1 FlaviaGermanaDissertacaoParcial2023.pdf: 569831 bytes, checksum: 56a1bb55e978fdb9f8ba5309261af3af (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2023-09-15T17:13:40Z (GMT).
