Resumo: The profound mutation in the contemporary world of work has promoted significant changes in people's ways of living, working and getting sick. Suffering has been increasingly trivialized and, regardless of intensity, has been referred to as a state of “normality”. Using the psychodynamics of work as a theoretical framework, this thesis has as its general objective to problematize the conception of normality at work, being guided by the following specific objectives: to investigate the production of knowledge about normality at work, in Brazil, according to the assumptions of psychodynamics from work; to identify in the Brazilian literature evidence of studies carried out on normality at work; and understand how normality is used and interpreted in the research carried out. To this end, bibliographic research was carried out in the electronic databases of the areas of psychology and health in Brazil, with a time frame of 10 years, from 2009 to 2018. After the search and data collection procedure, 314 productions were selected to compose the general sample. this work. The initial results were presented through charts and tables, and, in later stages, inclusion criteria were created for the selection of a specific sample that was submitted to content analysis. This second stage had the help of a software, MAXQDA. The initial results showed that no studies were found that present a more in-depth problematization or discussion about normality according to the psychodynamics of work. These results suggest that the concept of normality in psychodynamics of work is not being approached in isolation and that it has been used in a superficial way, without in-depth debates and discussions, which can generate controversial and contestable conclusions. In addition, there is a vacuum of research in this area, demonstrating the need for further studies on the subject. In the current contexts of precarious work, the concept of normality can be disguised as health and camouflage the tragic condition of thousands of workers who undergo different types of violence, suffering and alienation. Such a situation may hide illness at work, which may trigger different types of pathologies, whether physical or mental, inside and/or outside of work. Normality at work can be a very important indicator that, even being present at work, even if productive and said to be in a state of normality, the worker may already be sick. Therefore, Dejours says that: health is an ideal; that for psychodynamics of work normality is not a state of health or pathology, but a precarious balance at the expense of much suffering (which often already camouflages an illness); that normality is a "commitment that is categorically below health", so it is believed that what Dejours calls normality is not normality, but a normopathology.

Submitted by Sara Ribeiro (sara.ribeiro@ucb.br) on 2022-07-11T16:49:07Z No. of bitstreams: 1 JanePereiraAraujoTese2022.pdf: 2053688 bytes, checksum: 49e1ba0fc25474ac362a8fc29f692e8a (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Sara Ribeiro (sara.ribeiro@ucb.br) on 2022-07-11T16:49:21Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 1 JanePereiraAraujoTese2022.pdf: 2053688 bytes, checksum: 49e1ba0fc25474ac362a8fc29f692e8a (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2022-07-11T16:49:21Z (GMT).
