Resumo: | Given the reality that SARS-CoV-2, in some cases, affects cognitive functions, this study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive training of executive functions in healthy elderly people in the context of COVID-19, in measures of mood, anxiety symptoms and cognitive performance, in addition to describing the frequency and main cognitive complaints of participants with and without a history of COVID-19 and developing educational material on cognitive health, executive functions and aging. Data were collected through a quasiexperimental and quantitative study with residents of Brasília and surrounding areas. The sample of the present study consisted of 35 people between 61 and 80 years old. All participants were evaluated before and at the end of the program, so that the variables of interest were compared at baseline and after the interventions. Participants were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group underwent eight ninetyminute sessions of cognitive training of executive functions associated with Psychoeducation via web conferencing and the control group received eight 60-minute sessions of Health Education via web conferencing. Data manipulation, visualization and analysis were carried out using the R software, through the RStudio interface in version 4.3.1. Data are presented in three studies. The first is an integrative review of the literature that analyzed the provision of cognitive training for elderly people. The results indicate that the population of Brazilian studies had less education than those investigated in international studies. The second article aimed to present data on cognitive performance, cognitive complaints and symptoms of depression and anxiety of participants at baseline. The results demonstrate that participants with higher education had better scores on the Braztel-MMSE when compared to people with primary and secondary education. Significant levels of depression and anxiety were identified in both groups and participants with a history of COVID-19 presented significantly higher levels of difficulty in occupational activities than participants without a history of the disease. The third work responds to the objective of investigating the effectiveness of cognitive training of executive functions in healthy elderly people in the context of COVID-19, in measures of mood, anxiety symptoms and cognitive performance. The data indicate unchanged cognitive results after the interventions, however anxiety scores improved in both groups. Based on the findings, the importance of improving cognitive interventions via web conferencing is highlighted in order to benefit the elderly population. |

Submitted by Ihorranna Oliveira (ihorranna.oliveira@ucb.br) on 2024-05-16T16:04:33Z No. of bitstreams: 1 AnaTeperinoTese2024.pdf: 9082686 bytes, checksum: b5362af4dfe98cb620e7212b21ba07ba (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Sara Ribeiro (sara.ribeiro@ucb.br) on 2024-07-02T19:01:29Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 1 AnaTeperinoTese2024.pdf: 9082686 bytes, checksum: b5362af4dfe98cb620e7212b21ba07ba (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2024-07-02T19:01:29Z (GMT).
