Resumo: Objectives: Assessing quality of life of patients with hypertension and / or diabetes mellitus is the main objective of this work. Specifically aimed to describe the data of sociodemographic, economic, lifestyle and health related data of the patients studied, see if there are differences in QOL between SAH patients and patients with hypertension and DM; relate sociodemographic data, economic, lifestyle habits and health-related QoL scores with the SF-36. Material and method: It is quantitative, cross-sectional collection of primary data (obtained from June to December 2010), with descriptive and analytical. Developed at the Municipal Health Service of Campina Grande-PB, was collected a convenience sample of 299 hypertensive patients / HiperDia diabetics enrolled in the institution. The sample was divided into two groups as presented hypertension (n 234) and / or hypertension and diabetes (65). Submit the results of comparative statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney and KruskalWallis. Results : The hypertensive patients had higher scores for the QV-hypertensive diabetics, except for the domains pain, general health and emotional aspects. It was found difference in QOL for the two groups regarding gender and physical activity. Schooling and time of diagnosis were significant only in the hypertensive group. Conclusion: Quality of life is more affected in hypertensive-diabetic patients. The female is worse QoL scores. The physical activity is related to better QoL scores. Higher levels of education and shorter time to diagnosis of disease reporting better QoL scores.
