Resumo: This work sought to analyze and to understand life‟s quality of elderly with systemic blood pressure and type II diabetes mellitus in the primary attention of health of the city of Campina Grande - PB. It was a transversal descriptive and exploratory research with quantitative and qualitative characteristics in a multi-method approach. For acquisition quantitative data , the following instruments were used: Sociodemographic questionnaire for characterization of the sample and a question about elderly having systemic blood pressure and/or type II diabetes mellitus, proved by the Basic Health Unit (UBS); the quality of life scale WHOQOL-bref, that evaluated the quality of life of the participants; e the Mini Examination of Mental State (MEEM), a cognitive tracing test, which guaranteed the choice of preserved cognition‟s participants, for attainment of the data. From 508 of those surveyed, 371 were identified as carrying systemic blood pressure and/or type II diabetes mellitus, monitored at a UBS. According to convenience and accessibility criteria, 13 elderly formed two focal groups, technique used to get qualitative strategy data. Descriptive statistical analyses (averages, standard deviat ions and amplitude) were made based on the data bank built, for the treatment of the sociodemographic data and life quality score, and cross-check dependent and independent variables to verify whether there was association between them. The data collected by means of qualitative strategy – from the focal groups, were codified by the analysis of thematic content. The bred categories were inserted in the software QDA miner with the corpus of the research, which helped to analyze quantitatively the sum of frequencies and percentages of classes of the categories. The results are presented in two articles, the first study possible to know relative important aspects to the quality of life and the characteristics associates, as income, presence of hypertension and/or diabetes mellitus, arrangement of housing and age. The results of article 2 had disclosed that the conceptions of quality of life of aged carriers of hypertension and diabetes mellitus pass for the process of living with the chronic illness, they point with respect to the relevance of questions of subjective order and call to the attention for the necessity to understand the relation of the aged one with its illness and to elaborate more assertive strategies of care. One concludes that the studies in que stion if add to the studies of the area of the Psychology of the Health, that considers the understanding of aspects of the health in the field of the not mental illnesses and considers two common illnesses in the day the day of the aged population: systemic arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus of type II, that they can bring significant damages if they will not be controlled duly and if they configure as one of the challenges of the health services, over all considering the aged public.

Tratou-se de uma pesquisa transversal, do tipo descritivo-exploratória, de cunho quantitativo e qualitativo, com uma abordagem multimétodos. Para obter os dados da estratégia quantitativa, foram utilizados os seguintes instrumentos: o questionário sociodemográfico, para caracterizar a amostra, e mais uma questão para identificar presença de HAS e ou DM, fato comprovado na Unidade Básica de Saúde (UBS); a escala de qualidade de Vida WHOQOL-bref, que avaliou a qualidade de vida dos participantes; e o miniexame do estado mental (MEEM), um teste de rastreio cognitivo, que garantiu a escolha de participantes com a cognição preservada. Dos 508 idosos pesquisados, 371 foram considerados como portadores de HAS e/ou DM, acompanhados nas UBS. Por meio dos critérios de conveniência e de acessibilidade, 13 idosos constituíram dois grupos focais, uma técnica empregada para obter os dados da abordagem qualitativa. Foi criado um banco de dados, a partir do qual se procedeu a análises estatísticas descritivas (médias, desvios -padrão e amplitudes), para tratar dos dados sociodemográficos e dos escores de qualidade de vida e buscar associações entre as variáveis. Os dados coletados por meio da abordagem qualitativa (grupos focais) foram codificados empregando-se a análise de conteúdo temático. As categorias criadas foram inseridas, juntamente com o corpus da pesquisa no software QDA miner, que auxiliou a análise quantitativa do somatório das frequências e os percentuais das classes das categorias. Os resultados foram apresentados em dois artigos. O artigo 1 possibilitou conhecer aspectos importantes relativos à qualidade de vida e às características associadas, como renda, presença de HAS e/ou de DM, arranjo de moradia e idade. Os resultados do artigo 2 revelaram que as concepções de QV de idosos portadores de HAS e DM passam pelo processo de convivência com a doença crônica, apontam para a relevância de questões de ordem subjetiva e chamam à atenção para a necessidade de compreender a relação do idoso com sua doença e elaborar estratégias de cuidado mais assertivas. Conclui-se que os estudos em questão se agregam aos estudos da área da Psicologia da Saúde, que propõe a compreensão de aspectos da saúde no campo das doenças não mentais e considera duas doenças comuns no dia a dia da população idosa: a hipertensão arterial sistêmica e a diabetes mellitus do tipo II, que podem trazer danos significativos se não forem controladas devidamente e se configuram como um dos desafios dos serviços de saúde, sobretudo considerando o público idoso.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia da Saúde - PPGPSUEPBBRPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPDiabetes mellitusHypertensionElderlyQuality of lifeCIENCIAS HUMANASDiabetes mellitusHipertensãoIdososQualidade de vidaQualidade de vida de idosos hipertensos e/ou diabéticos acompanhados na atenção primária em saúdeinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisMedeiros, Fabíola de Araújo Leitehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2282077635706351Costa, Iris do Ceu Clarahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9903762680376103Eulálio, Maria do Carmohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/8757576547339240http://lattes.cnpq.br/1598625021181643Santos, Kalina de Limainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
