Resumo: The movement of people and goods has always been related to economic development. In this context, we sought to analyze the urban mobility indicators of Campina Grande, Paraíba, Brazil, and public policies capable of promoting their socioeconomic development, these determinations being the main objectives. For the accomplishment of this work, documentary data published and made available by the transit and transportation, demographic and economic sectors were used. The method of collecting data was qualitative and quantitative, applying two hundred semi-structured questionnaires to the users of the Campina Grande Collective Transport Integration Terminal, from four geographic areas (N, S, W and E) and twelve neighborhoods. Statistical analyzes were performed using descriptive statistics and the relevant criteria, which allowed the establishment of the socioeconomic and urban mobility profiles of the city. The main results indicated that urban collective transportation (buses) is the first choice of mobility for work and school. Although the indicatives related to insecurity inside the bus, waiting time and other reasons for dissatisfaction, resulted in the reduction of 10 million users. Urban mobility policy is important for socio-economic development, but needs to be better structured. The urban expansion contributed to aggravate the mobility and, therefore, the option was for the individual transport (car and motorcycle). Traffic education actions have resulted not only in road safety, but in reducing social costs with accidents and improving accessibility and mobility of pedestrians. The evolution of gross domestic product has a strong relationship with the services sector. The Urban Mobility Act alone is insufficient to guarantee sustainability, expand urban investment and reduce congestion. It is recommended the expansion of studies relating to public policy issues and sustainable development, in order to ascertain new interpretations and evaluations of the process of planning and implementation of public policies.
