Resumo: This dissertation proposes an interpretation of Albert Camus’ Myth of Sisyphus and the Bhagavad-Gītā using a dialogical approach inspired by the work of Paul Ricoeur. The Myth of Sisyphus and the Bhagavad-Gītā can be seen as metaphors that can help us to orient ourselves in the inevitable adversities that every human being faces in the course of his or her life. This research connects a number of concepts common to both texts, which belong to very distant eras and cultures. By conceiving the Bhagavad-Gītā as a three-storey building, a number of elements of this sacred text could be identified which are useful in order to interpret the Myth of Sisyphus. Among other things, awareness, detachment and the pursuit of profound happiness are common to the works from which it has been possible to elaborate a dialogical hermeneutics. Moreover, the philosophy of action in the Bhagavad-Gītā, which suggests that a task should not be carried out with the fruits of labour in mind, helps us understand how Sisyphus can find a form of peace of mind in the execution of his arid and hopeless task. Once we consider Sisyphus' activity as a form of yoga, the mysterious happiness the hero feels at the end of the Myth is enlighten. Finally, although the Gods take an important place in both texts, this question is approached in a completely different way in the two works since the Bhagavad-Gītā presents an absolute Supreme God to whom one must submit without restraint, whereas in the Myth of Sisyphus, Camus proposes a confrontation with the Gods.

Essas duas obras podem ser vistas como metáforas que podem nos ajudar a guiar-nos nas inevitáveis provações que todo ser humano deve enfrentar no decorrer de sua vida. Este trabalho possibilita estabelecer conexões entre os vários conceitos desses dois trabalhos que pertencem a diferentes épocas e culturas. Uma analogia do discurso do Bhagavad-Gītā como um edifício de três andares, nos permitiu identificar as partes desse texto sagrado que poderiam ser úteis para a análise do Mito de Sísifo. Dentre outras coisas, a tomada de consciência, o desapego e a busca da felicidade profunda são pontos comuns em os dois trabalhos, a partir dos quais foi possível realizar uma hermenêutica dialógica. Além disso, a filosofia de ação apresentada no Bhagavad-Gītā, que propõe uma execução de tarefas acompanhadas de um desapego aos frutos do trabalho, pode ser útil para entender como Sísifo pode encontrar uma espécie de paz de espírito na execução de sua tarefa árida e sem esperança. A esse respeito, quando se considera que a atividade de Sísifo pode ser vista como uma forma de yoga, pode-se melhor imaginar como isso pode levá-lo ao tipo de felicidade que sente ao final do mito. Por fim, embora os deuses tenham um lugar importante nos dois textos, essa questão é abordada de maneira completamente diferente nos dois trabalhos, uma vez que o Bhagavad-Gītā apresenta um Deus Supremo absoluto, ao qual se deve submeter sem restrições, enquanto Camus propõe uma espécie de confronto com os deuses.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Literatura e Interculturalidade - PPGLIUEPBBRCentro de Educação - CEDUCPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPLINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTESHermenêutica dialógicaMetáforaEnsaio filosóficoEscritura sagrada HinduHermenêutica dialógica entre o mito de Sísifo e o Bhagavad-Gitãinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisSilva, Eli Brandão daQuellet-Simard, Alexisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
