In contemporary discussions about development, the human being has assumed increasingly centrality. Attentive to sociocultural issues, the development models of present are creating policies and programs that seek to improve the quality of life of local people. The Tourism reveals itself as an example of contemporary strategy of these models of development . In this context, the Pedra of Boca State Park is created in the city of Araruna / PB as a vector of development and contribution to the quality of life of regional residents. This qualitative study, type of descriptive and exploratory, has the objective to understand the contribution of the creation of Pedra of Boca State Park, to improve the quality of life of Araruna/PB population. The study subjects were representatives from the sector public, private, third sector and community, using semi-structured interviews to collect data. For the data analysis we used the technique of Content Analysis. The results of the study confirmed the nonparticipation of the population of Araruna/PB in decisions and actions related to the park, the scarce use of the park as recreational space; the increasing local violence and the prohibition of agriculture and animals creations in the conserved area. Therefore, based on the data analyzed, this study indicates that the Pedra of Boca State Park has not contributed to the quality of life of local population.
