Resumo: Estuaries are habitats often considered as “nursery areas” as they provide a wide range of resources that favor the development of many organisms primarily in their early stages, considered a critical period in life cycle of these species.The structural particularities as well as the fluctuations of hydrological cycle in these environments provoke seasonal and spatial variations in environmental parameters determinant in distribution and structure of fish community. Thus, the study arose with the purpose of describing the structure and spatio-temporal distribution of ichthyoplankton in two hypersaline estuaries (Tubarão and Casqueira river estuaries) of municipality of Macau - RN, Brazil. The estuaries were divided into three zones according to their saline gradients where they were sampled in 2017 and 2018 covering periods of drought and rain of the region. With aid of a conical - cylindrical plankton network, horizontal subsurface trawls were made and environmental parameters checked at high tides. The larval species that most contributed to density values were Atherinella brasiliensis, Lile piquitinga, Oligoplites saurus and Caranx latus, while the Engraulidae and Clupeidae families were the most representative egg families. The variables that best predicted the ichthyoplankton variation were rainfall, depth, temperature and channel width at sampling site. The highest ichthyoplankton densities were observed in intermediate zone of the Tubarão estuary during the dry period. The density of larvae presented significant difference only between periods and estuaries while eggs presented differences of densities between estuaries, zones and periods. And the larval development pointed a separation in the development of larvae relating lower developmental stages (vitellin and pre-flexion) with dry period and higher developmental stages (flexion and post-flexion) with the rainy season in both estuaries. The results evidenced high sensitivity of ichthyoplankton to environmental variations, emphasizing its role as a tool for the evaluation of effects of environmental changes, and presence of typically marine dependent estuarine species confirm the importance of these estuarine environments as nursery areas, even under conditions of hypersalinity.

As particularidades estruturais bem como as flutuações do ciclo hidrológico nesses ambientes provocam variações sazonais e espaciais em parâmetros ambientais que são determinantes na distribuição e estrutura da comunidade de peixes. Desta forma, o estudo surge com o objetivo de descrever a estrutura e distribuição espaço-temporal do ictioplâncton em dois estuários hipersalinos (estuários do rio Tubarão e rio Casqueira) do município de Macau – RN, Brasil. Os estuários foram divididos em três zonas, de acordo a distância até a boca dos estuários, onde foram realizadas as amostragens em 2017 e 2018 cobrindo períodos de seca e chuva da região. Com o auxílio de uma rede de plâncton cônico-cilíndrica foram feitos arrastos horizontais de subsuperfície e aferidos parâmetros ambientais nas marés altas de sizígia. As espécies de larvas que mais contribuíram para os valores de densidade foram Atherinella brasiliensis, Lile piquitinga, Oligoplites saurus e Caranx latus, enquanto as famílias Engraulidae e Clupeidae foram as famílias de ovos de maior representatividade. As variáveis que melhor predisseram a variação do ictioplâncton foram pluviosidade, profundidade, temperatura e largura do canal no local de amostragem. As maiores densidades do ictioplâncton foram observadas na zona intermediária do estuário do rio Tubarão durante o período de seca. A densidade das larvas apresentou diferença significativa entre estuários e períodos enquanto os ovos apresentaram diferenças de densidades entre estuários, zonas e períodos. E o desenvolvimento larval apontou uma separação no desenvolvimento das larvas relacionando estágios de menor desenvolvimento (Vitelínico e pré-flexão) com o período seco e estágios de maior desenvolvimento (Flexão e pós-flexão) com o período chuvoso, em ambos os estuários. Os resultados evidenciam a alta sensibilidade do ictioplâncton às variações ambientais ressaltando seu papel de ferramenta para a avaliação de efeitos de alterações ambientais, e a presença de espécies tipicamente marinhas estuarinas dependentes comprovam a importância desses ambientes estuarinos como áreas de berçário, mesmo sob condições de hipersalinidades.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ecologia e Conservação - PPGECUEPBBRPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPSpawningEstuariesFishesCIENCIAS BIOLOGICASPeixesDesovaEstuáriosIctioplânctonDinâmica ictioplanctônica em ambientes hipersalinos do semiárido brasileiroinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisSeveriano, Juliana dos Santoshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/0904801044108595Sales, Natalice dos Santoshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/7024671487592426Pessanha, André Luiz Machadohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/5517316070440241http://lattes.cnpq.br/1885899160438385Badú, Maria Luísa de Araújo Soutoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
