Resumo: Sexually transmitted infections and the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is characterized as a serious public health problem. Several segments of the population are in vulnerable conditions to these conditions, like the blind. Becomes mister identify knowledge, attitudes and practices of these people on this theme to work with the (re)development and greater effectiveness of public policies aimed at this population group and directed their sexual health. OBJECTIVES: To describe the socio-demographic profile; identify knowledge, attitude and practice on sexually transmitted infections/Aids; seek associations between variables of sociodemographic factors and knowledge, attitude and practice about the main Sexually Transmitted Infections/Aids; check associations between variables knowledge and attitudes of variables and practices to HIV/Aids; investigate associations between attitudes and practices in relation to HIV/Aids. METHODS: Descriptive, cross-sectional, with a quantitative approach, carried out in Basic Health Units of Campina Grande Family / Paraíba, Brazil, from August 2014 to July 2015 were considered for inclusion persons with bilateral blindness criteria of both sexes and age were equal to or greater than 18 years. Non-probabilistic sample comprised 36 blind individuals. We used the instrument Knowledge, Attitude and Practice on Transmitted / AIDS Sexually. Absolute and relative frequencies were calculated. There were the Cronbach's Alpha test, chi-square, Exact Chi-Square, plus the calculation of the contingency coefficient. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the State University of Paraíba, Protocol 070988/2014. RESULTS: Participants presented the following characteristics: n 28(77%) are elderly, female 19(53%) do not live with fellow 20(66%) attended elementary school 25(69%) and not currently work 34(94%). They have inadequate knowledge on ways to prevent and transmission of some STI/Aids 35(97%) and ways to prevent HIV 27(75%); equitable distribution about the female condom knowledge; inadequate attitude related to stigma and discrimination against people with HIV/Aids 31(86%) and HIV detection through testing for Aids 35(97%); and improper sexual activity in relation to infection by sexually transmitted infections 26(72%), feminine practice associated with the detection of sexually transmitted infections 14(39%) and sexual practices related to HIV 35(97%). Statistical association was found between variables religion, employment status, primary occupation in the last 12 months, due to not working and schooling and attitudes related to HIV detection; variable between sex and sexual practices related to infection with sexually transmitted infections; and among variables sex, marital status and level of education and female practice related to the detection of sexually transmitted infections. It was identified also statistical association between knowledge of the ways of HIV prevention and stigma and discrimination attitude to people with HIV. For questions related to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, the instrument has satisfactory reliability (Cronbach's alpha total = 0.802). CONCLUSIONS: Sociodemographic factors; access to health services and barriers to information provided by the Government; in addition to the denial of sexuality of blind people represent determining factors to the findings, which demonstrate knowledge, attitudes and inappropriate practices of blind people about sexually transmitted infections and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.

CONCLUSIONS: Sociodemographic factors; access to health services and barriers to information provided by the Government; in addition to the denial of sexuality of blind people represent determining factors to the findings, which demonstrate knowledge, attitudes and inappropriate practices of blind people about sexually transmitted infections and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.As Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis e a síndrome da imunodeficiência adquirida configuram-se como um grave problema de saúde pública. Diversos segmentos da população estão em condições de vulnerabilidade a essas afecções, a exemplo das pessoas cegas. Torna-se mister identificar conhecimento, atitudes e práticas dessas pessoas sobre a referida temática a fim colaborar com a (re)formulação e maior efetividade de políticas públicas destinadas a esse grupo populacional e direcionadas a sua saúde sexual. OBJETIVOS: Traçar perfil sociodemográfico; identificar conhecimento, atitude e prática sobre as infecções sexualmente transmissíveis/Aids; buscar associações entre características sociodemográficas e de conhecimento, atitude e prática acerca das principais infecções sexualmente transmissíveis/Aids; verificar associações entre conhecimento e atitude e prática frente ao HIV/Aids; investigar associações entre atitudes e práticas no tocante a HIV/Aids. MATERIAL E MÉTODOS: Estudo descritivo, de corte transversal, com abordagem quantitativa, realizado nas Unidades Básicas de Saúde da Família de Campina Grande/Paraíba, Brasil, no período de agosto de 2014 a julho de 2015. Foram considerados critérios de inclusão pessoas com cegueira bilateral, de ambos os sexos e que tivessem idade igual ou maior que 18 anos. Compuseram amostra não probabilística 36 indivíduos cegos . Utilizou-se o instrumento Conhecimento, Atitude e Prática sobre Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis/Aids. Foram calculadas frequências absolutas e relativas. Realizaram-se os testes Alpha de Cronbach, Qui-quadrado, Exato de QuiQuadrado, além do cálculo do coeficiente de contingência. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba, Protocolo nº 070988/2014. RESULTADOS: Os participantes apresentaram as seguintes características: 28(77%) são idosos, do sexo feminino 19(53%), não vivem com companheiro 20(66%), cursaram ensino fundamental 25(69%) e não trabalham atualmente 34(94%). Apresentam conhecimento inadequado quanto à prevenção e transmissão de algumas infecções sexualmente transmissíveis/Aids 35(97%) e à prevenção de HIV 27(75%); distribuição equânime a respeito do conhecimento do preservativo feminino; atitude inadequada relacionada a estigma e discriminação às pessoas com HIV/Aids 31(86%) e à detecção de HIV através da realização do teste para Aids 35(97%); e, prática sexual inadequada em relação à infecção por IST 26(72%), prática feminina relacionada à detecção de infecções sexualmente transmissíveis 14(39%) e prática sexual relacionada à prevenção do HIV 35(97%). Foi detectada associação estatística entre variáveis religião, situação de trabalho, principal ocupação nos últimos 12 meses, razão de não estar trabalhando e grau de escolaridade e atitude relacionada à detecção de HIV; entre variável sexo e prática sexual relacionada à adquirir infecções sexualmente transmissíveis; e, entre variáveis sexo, estado conjugal e grau de escolaridade e prática feminina relacionada à detecção de infecções sexualmente transmissíveis. Foi identificada, ainda, associação estatística entre conhecimento das formas de prevenção de HIV e atitude de estigma e discriminação à pessoa com HIV. Para questões relacionadas à síndrome da imunodeficiência adquirida, o instrumento apresenta satisfatória confiabilidade (Alpha de Cronbach Total = 0,802). CONCLUSÕES: Fatores sociodemográficos; barreiras de acesso aos serviços de saúde e às informações veiculadas pelo poder público; e negação da sexualidade das pessoas cegas, representam fatores determinantes aos achados, os quais demonstram conhecimento, atitudes e práticas inadequados das pessoas cegas sobre infecções sexualmente transmissíveis e síndrome da imunodeficiência adquirida.application/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Saúde Pública - PPGSPUEPBBRPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPSocioeconomic factorsSexual healthVisually Impaired PersonsSAUDE COLETIVAPessoa com deficiência visualSaúde sexualSíndrome da Imunodeficiência Adquirida - AIDSFatores socioeconômicosConhecimento, atitude e prática das pessoas cegas sobre infecções sexualmente transmissíveis e Síndrome da Imunodeficiência Adquiridainfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisPagliuca, Lorita Marlena Freitaghttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9630287863419394Coura, Alexsandro Silvahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/5597558131874152França, Inácia Sátiro Xavier dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2783760383527777http://lattes.cnpq.br/4737502964612046Araújo, Andressa Kaline Ferreirainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
