Resumo: Considering that "teaching academic writing is the foundation of participation in the scientific field" (Motta-Roth, 2007, p. 830), the present study is motivated by the understanding of linguistic strategies employed to minimize subjectivity and promote impartiality in scientific discussions. Aimed at investigating scientific language, this work, based on Systemic Functional Linguistics (Halliday; Matthiessen, 2014), seeks to analyze existential meanings in the scientific article, associating them with the function of each stage of the genre in question. To this end, twenty scientific articles from the field of Literature, published in the ALFA and DELTA journals, were selected as the corpus. Drawing on Systemic Functional Linguistics (Halliday, 1994; Halliday; Matthiessen, 2014), it will be possible to identify, through the ideational metafunction, how the how the deletion of the researcher is carried out in the pursuit of scientific objectivity through existential constructions

Com o objetivo de investigar a linguagem científica, este trabalho, baseando-se na Linguística Sistêmico-Funcional (Halliday; Matthiessen, 2014), visa analisar os significados existenciais no artigo científico, associando-os à função de cada etapa do gênero em questão. Para isso, foram selecionadas como corpus vinte artigos científicos da área de Letras, publicados pelas revistas ALFA e DELTA.
