The New High School, proposed by the Federal Government in 2017, brought significant changes in the organization of this segment of basic education. For its full implementation, high school and all the relative public policies that surround it will need to be in accordance with the guidelines proposed by law 13.415/2017, and also with the National Common Curriculum Base. In view of these changes, it was necessary that the textbooks acquired through the PNLD notice also underwent changes. In view of this situation, we set out to analyze the PNLD notice of the year 2018, prior to the reform of high school, and the PNLD 2021 notice, after the reform. Seeking to understand the materialization of the "New High School" in the new notice, and in the new didactic works acquired through it, besides trying to observe the main changes from one edition of the notice to the other. To better support our analysis we also set out to investigate how these modifications happened in practice, for this, we analyzed the category "Work" and the appropriation of "Brazilian social thought" in the textbooks Sociology in Motion, prior to the reform, and Moderna Plus: Applied Human and Social Sciences , after the reform. From this research, it was possible to understand the PNLD 2021 notice and the "Teacher Supplement" of the book of the modern publishing house as two "mini-manuals" of implementation of high school reform. As for the book Moderna Plus: Applied Human and Social Sciences, we observe that it has not yet established a break with the previous form of production, Sociology in Motion, presenting itself more as an accommodation of this. Thus, we still cannot consider, at least from this analysis, the books from the PNLD 2021 Notice as the fourth generation of textbooks in Brazil.
