In recent decades, we increasingly has sought to understand the relationship between mind and brain. While many researchers take a reductionist position in which mental phenomena are seen as mere epiphenomena, that would be entirely explicable from the observation of neuronal activity, other authors argue that despite the mental phenomena depend on brain activity, mind is irreducible to brain. In clinical practice in the field of mental health, these positions have important practical correlates globally. While psychiatry has mostly emphasized a reductionist perspective, psychoanalysis, that was once hegemonic in the field, has been found it difficult to establish conversation bridges with the field of neurosciences, which makes it be seen as an obsolete or obscurantist clinical practice. This research aimed to establish dialogue bridges between psychoanalysis and neuroscience through the study of the relationship between language and perception, showing that even a phenomenon that is supposed to be merely sensorial, as perception, is strongly influenced by language. This implies that we need to reconfigure the way we conceive the relationship between mind and brain and the very notion of nature, so that it counteracts the most reductionist versions of naturalism.
