Resumo: Introduction: Uterine fibroids are the most common benign gynecological tumors in women of reproductive age. Ultrasound studies have an inherently visual nature, and the corresponding reports are commonly prepared in text format. Enhancing communication between healthcare professionals and patients is of paramount importance in patient- centered radiology. Objectives: This study aimed to compare audiovisual transvaginal ultrasound reports versus text-based reports from the perspective of patients with uterine fibroids. Methodology: Over a period of 60 days, video-based ultrasound reports were created using an integrated tool in the diagnostic system, allowing for voice and image capture during transvaginal ultrasound examination. Video reports were made available to patients through a WhatsApp video link, along with the written report and examination images. To assess the effectiveness of this approach, patient views of the video reports were recorded, and descriptive analyses were conducted considering examination characteristics and patient demographic information. Additionally, a questionnaire was sent to patients to gather feedback on their experience with the video report. Results: The implementation of audiovisual transvaginal ultrasound reports, compared to traditional text reports, received significant positive acceptance among patients with uterine fibroids. The majority (86%) expressed considering the audiovisual approach as a valuable contribution. Concerns raised by 29% of participants about persistent doubts underscore the need to improve clarity in audiovisual presentation, indicating potential challenges in fully understanding the results. Discussion: Comparing the results with existing literature, the convergence towards positive acceptance of audiovisual reports reinforces the promising trend in medical results communication. However, perceived challenges, such as persistent doubts and divergent opinions on video duration, highlight the ongoing need for enhancements in audiovisual presentation to ensure accessibility, comprehension, and adaptability to individual preferences.
