Part of the problem of old age as a foreigner to think of pre-expressiveness and dialogue as a means of learning appropriate to this universe of people, which is in rapid demographic growth in Brazil. It uses as theoretical reference to think old age the inter-sectionality between old age and gender. The research took the tools of participant observation, interviews and field diary - together with a group of elderly people linked to a public service that seeks support based on coexistence and strengthening of links. Its final objective is to offer a new strategy of socio-educational activity for the Service of Coexistence and Strengthening of Links, within the scope of the Basic Social Protection of the Unique System of Social Assistance. The research evidenced: the rearguard role of the elderly women to the families, taking care of its members and / or sustaining them, 63% of the old people of Ceará are heads of family. Work is socially invisible. Paradoxically they are mistreated. There is a culture of devaluation of the old as old age enters the time of formal post-work. This culture passes between generations. The challenges of the process of population aging concern the society as a whole, since the family and intergenerational relational pattern changes. The elderly group was relevant when making breaks in the social gaze of old age. Continuing education is necessary as selfunderstanding of self in this context. Technical-scientific knowledge understands death as strictly biological, suppressing the spiritual, source of knowledge and support brought by the elderly.Este trabalho é parte integrante do Curso de Doutorado em Educação Brasileira da Faculdade de Educação da Universidade Federal do Ceará, junto à Linha Movimentos Sociais, Educação Popular e Escola – MovSoc. Parte da problemática da velhice enquanto estrangeira para pensar a pré-expressividade e exposição dialogada como meio de aprendizado adequadas a este universo de pessoas, o qual está em franco crescimento demográfico no Brasil. Utiliza como referencial teórico para pensar a velhice a intersecionalidade entre velhice e gênero. A pesquisa tomou as ferramentas da observação participante, entrevistas e diário de campo – junto a um grupo de idosos vinculado a um serviço público. Teve como objetivo final oferecer uma nova estratégia de atividade sócio-educativa para o Serviço de Convivência e Fortalecimento de Vínculos, no âmbito da Proteção Social Básica do Sistema Único de Assistência Social. A pesquisa evidenciou: o papel de retaguarda das idosas para as famílias, cuidando de seus membros e/ou sustentando-as, 63% dos velhos cearenses são chefes de família. Trabalho é socialmente invisível. Paradoxalmente são maltratadas. Há uma cultura de desvalia dos velhos uma vez que a velhice se inserir no tempo do pós-trabalho formal. Esta cultura passa entre gerações. Os desafios do processo de envelhecimento populacional dizem respeito à sociedade como um todo, posto que o padrão relacional familiar e intergeracional se modificar. O grupo de idosos se mostrou relevante ao fazer rupturas no olhar social da velhice. A educação permanente é necessária como autocompreensão de si neste contexto.
