Resumo: This paper aims to bring a rigorous definition to complex numbers and to show that the approach to these numbers at this level of education does not have to be strictly algebraic, that is, it is also possible to discuss the complexities in the field of geometry. To do so, in Chapter 1 we will define complex numbers with an ordered pair of real numbers and introduce two operations: sum and product. We will then conclude that the set of complex numbers is an unordered body. We will define the conjugate and the module of a complex number and discuss related properties. We will then make an approach to the complexes in the complex plane and their representation in the polar form. In Chapter 2 we will prove some rather interesting geometry results using the complex numbers. Finally, we conclude the work showing how to calculate the area of ​​a polygon in the complex plane.

Para tanto, no capítulo 1 definiremos números complexos com um par ordenado de números reais e introduziremos duas operações: soma e produto. Concluíremos então que o conjunto dos números complexos é um corpo não ordenado. Definiremos o conjugado e o módulo de um número complexo e discutiremos propriedades relacionadas. Passaremos então a fazer uma abordagem dos complexos no plano complexo e sua representação na forma polar. No capítulo 2 provaremos alguns resultados bastante interessantes da geometria utilizando os números complexos.
