The present research, entitled ?Teaching in the Alto Uruguai Region (RS) from 1930 to 1980: stories of professional life, experiences and pedagogical practices?, is linked to the Scritu Sensu Graduate Program, Professional Master in Education at UFFS ? Erechim Campus. The main objective was to identify the aspects presents in the construction of lecture conception in the decades from 1930 to 1980, in the state public schools, located in the urban perimeter of the counties belonging at the region of AMAU/RS (Association of Counties on the Region of Alto Uruguai from Rio Grande do Sul). Besides, objectives to analyze the stories of professional life, experiences and pedagogic practices of these teachers, that acted and constituted themselves as professionals teachers, understanding the teaching experiences that were fundamentals to the formation of the profession. The investigation has its origin in the question: how it characterizes the conception of teaching, from the stories of professional life, experiences and pedagogical practices of the teachers that acted in the decades from 1930 to 1980, on state public schools, located in the urban perimeter of the counties belonging at the region of AMAU/RS emancipated in the 1980s? With the interest in proposing discussions and reflections on the problem and seeking answers, the study presents itself in a qualitative, exploratory and interpretative approach to documentary survey. Information was sought regarding the curricular organization, class diaries, founding decrees, school minutes and registers, school regiment and photographs, which allowed a survey of historical and documentary data, as well as the contextualization of the spaces in which teachers worked during the period searched. In addition, the research had a descriptive-interpretative approach, from eight interviews with the first teachers who worked from 1930 to 1980 in the State Public Schools, belonging to the AMAU / RS Region. Through the interviews, we contemplate the conjuncture that had when these professors took over the profession, the experiences lived during the period that are part of their professional life stories, the constitution of this professional and his conception of teaching, the relationships established with the other protagonists of the educational environment, the experiences and pedagogical practices lived. Through the research we found that the teaching conception was constituted based on the interrelationship of various aspects, such as the political, economic and social context of the period, and were responsible for the way the teaching practice spaces were organized and the trends that underpinned their pedagogical practices. In addition, the teaching conception in the studied period was focused on content, whose initial formation was elitist and doctrinal, since the first school experiences were in private boarding schools and linked to the Catholic Church. - This pedagogical practice aimed to shape behaviors in a disciplining, oppressive and excluding way. A conception based on the liberal tendency until the 60's and that, from the 70's, assumes the liberal technicist tendency as the basis of pedagogical practice. As a result of this research, a product emerged, which was linked to the research of master student Susiane Maria Bampi, entitled: ?Formative Experiences of the teachers in the AMAU / RS region from 1980 to 2018?.
