This work proposes walking through the city as a methodological practice within the field of knowledge of architecture and urbanism. It considers walking as a political act that enables one to get to know the city, to affect and be affected by it and its users in various social, political, and aesthetic aspects. In other words, it sees walking as a possibility to unveil social disputes through spatial experiences in Goiás that escape traditional readings. The research is grounded in Goiás, the former state capital and a World Heritage Site, recognized for its symbolic and architectural value, but also marked by tensions and conflicts between preservation, everyday use, and urban inequalities. Thus, the research seeks to contribute to contemporary cartographic and counter-cartographic experimentations, as well as to approach epistemological and political reflections in architecture and urbanism through everyday practices that value spatial imagination. To this end, the research proceeds in two dimensions: the first concerns a historiographical reading of modernity; and the second, through methodological experimentations of walking in Goiás and the recording of these experiences, making it possible to critically situate the social differences reproduced by historically shaped geographic boundaries, and to understand this city beyond traditional touristic perspectives.
