When seeking ways to protect and even sustainably use Brazilian biodiversity, it is important to highlight, in environmental legislation, Law No. 12,651, of May 25, 2012 (the Forest Code), and Law No. 14,119, of January 13, 2021, which establishes the National Policy on Payment for Environmental Services, promoting guidelines to benefit and protect ecosystems and environmental services. In the scenario of economic growth, Brazilian agriculture has incorporated sustainable technologies, playing a crucial role in assisting in the protection of biological diversity. Brazil has a historical relationship with coffee, with Geographical Indication Campo das Vertentes Minas Gerais being a region recognized for its significant production of quality coffee. This work aimed to identify and quantify coffee properties with the potential to receive Payments for Environmental Services using geotechnologies and data from the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR). This study offers a comprehensive analysis of 972 rural properties in the municipality of Santo Antônio do Amparo, located in the Campo das Vertentes region, MG. Through the intersection of CAR data with maps and vectors from the project "Environmental characterization of the Campo das Vertentes region of Minas Gerais for the Geographical Indication of specialty coffees," developed by Embrapa Café, EPAMIG and UFLA, integrated into the QGIS software, it was possible to observe a notable awareness on the part of producers, with 220 properties associating coffee crops with elements such as Legal Reserve, Native Vegetation, and Water Springs. However, the associations between properties and environmental elements are diverse, highlighting the predominance of the Legal Reserve compared to separate fragments of Native Vegetation.
