Resumo: The usage of modern technologies not been used much for the citrus growers, most of them like to grow tangerine tree citrus growers, most of them like to grow tangerine tree in (old way) the traditional way, leading the tree´s top volumes to increase, without worrying about the uncontroled growth of the plant which difficult and increases the expense of the right cultural treatments, mainly the harvest. Therefore, the lacking of right cultural treatments usage, such as pruning, can compromising the yield, physical and organoleptical qualities of the fruit. So, this research aimed to test top pruning effect in the lowering of the top and pruning the lower part of the plant in the recovering of 12 years old " Ponkan" tangerine tree, 4 meters height, 6x4 spacing grafted on ´Cravo´ lemon tree. This experiment was carried out at Vito Crincoli´s Farm in Perdões - MG . It was used randomized plots in a factorial scheme of 4x2, top pruning (without pruning, pruning at 3.0; 2.5 and 2.0) and pruning circumference (with and without pruning) with 4 replications. The useful parcel used three plants. It was verified after the third year of pruning that the plants showed a growth that, statistical, did not differ anymore from the control, showing to be recovered from the pruning treatments. Those dramatically pruning of the top of the plant damaged the first tree yield, therefore, after the second year pruning, the plants showed a very good recovering. This affirmative was confirmed in the third harvest when several kinds of pruning the top did not differ in the yield, the pruning treatment of the lower part of the tree was superior to that without any pruning. After the third year the plants that had been under a more severe pruning gave higher fruit weight. According to the results, it was verified that the pruning quality, in those three following harvest.

According to the results, it was verified that the pruning quality, in those three following harvest.A utilização de técnicas modernas pelos citricultores, ainda é pouco expressiva e a maioria prefere cultivar a tangerineira de maneira tradicional propiciando aumento do volume das copas sem se preocupar com o crescimento desordenado da planta, o que dificulta e encarece os tratos culturais, principalmente, a colheita. Além disso, a falta de utilização de tratos culturais adequados, como a poda, pode comprometer a produtividade e a qualidade física e organoléptica dos frutos. Assim, objetivou-se nesta pesquisa, testar o efeito da poda de topo no rebaixamento da copa e poda da parte baixa da planta (saia) na recuperação da tangerineira ´Ponkan´ com 12 anos de idade. As plantas apresentavam altura de 4 metros, espaçadas de 6 x 4 m e enxertadas sobre limoeiro ´Cravo´. O experimento foi conduzido na Fazenda Vito Crincoli, localizada no município de Perdões, MG. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos ao acaso, em esquema fatorial 4 x 2, sendo poda do topo (sem poda, poda a 3,0; 2,5 e 2,0m de altura) e poda da saia (sem e com poda) com quatro repetições. A parcela útil foi constituída de três plantas. Verificou-se que, após a terceira safras, as plantas podadas apresentaram um crescimento que, estatisticamente, não mais se diferenciou do crescimento da testemunha, demonstrando estarem recuperadas dos tratamentos com podas. As podas drásticas de topo prejudicaram a primeira produção, contudo, a partir da segunda safra, as plantas apresentaram boa recuperação. Essa afirmativa foi confirmada na terceira colheita, quando os diferentes tipos de podas do topo não se diferenciaram na produtividade, tendo o tratamento com poda da saia sido superior ao sem poda. Na terceira colheita, as plantas que sofreram podas mais severas produziram frutos com tamanho e peso superior.
