Especificamente , pretendeu-se verificar a continuidade espacial do número de fuste s e do volume, nas diferentes formas e intensidades amostrais para Eucalyptus grandis com idade variando de três a quatro anos; estimar o número de fustes e o volume de madeira por unidade de manejo por meio do inventário , pela amostragem casual simples (ACS) e do interpolador geoestatístico, para parcelas circulares e em linha, em três intensidades amostrais e comparar as estimativas pelos diferentes métodos com o valor observado de cada unidade de manejo. A área de estudo abrange quatro talhões de Eucalyptus grandis, totalizando 104,71 ha com idade variando de três a quatro anos, pertencentes à Ripasa S/A Celulose e Papel. Os dados para a realização do estudo de variabilidade espacial foram coletados em parcelas circulares e em parcelas em linhas, nas intensidades de uma parcela a cada quatro hectares (1:4), uma parcela a cada sete hectares (1:7) e uma parcela a cada dez hectares (1:10). Fez-se também a contagem do número de fustes presentes em cada talhão por meio de fotografias aéreas digitais. A avaliação da exatidão da estimativa do número de fustes e volume para cada método dentro das respectivas intensidades amostrais foi efetuada por meio da matriz de exatidão. Pela análise variográfica, foi possível detectar que as duas características avaliadas apresentaram-se estruturadas espacialmente, portanto, há um modelo espacial que modela esta estrutura. A continuidade espacial foi detectada em todas as intensidades amostrais e formas de parcelas avaliadas, para número de fustes. Para volume, na intensidade amostral 1:10, não foi possível detectar continuidade espacial. Houve diferença significativa entre os métodos avaliados para a variável número de fustes nas três intensidades amostrais. Nas maiores intensidades amostrais , os métodos que envolveram parcelas circulares foram mais exatos do que as parcelas em linhas, tanto para número de fustes quanto para volume.This work evaluated methods for defining, with larger precision, the shaft number for management unit, as well as the wood volume. Specific ally, it intended to verify the space continuity of the shaft number and volume in the different forms and sample intensities for Eucalyptus grandis at the age varying from three to four years; to estimate the shaft number and the wood volume for management unit through the inventory using Simple Casual Samplin g (ACS) and geostatistic interpolator, for circular and in line plots, in three sample intensities and to compare the estimates for the different methods with the obvserved value of each unit of management. The study area included four stands of Eucalyptus grandis, totaling 104.71 hectares at age varying from three to four years, belonging to Ripasa S/A Cellulose and Paper Company. The data for accomplishing the study of space variability were collected in circular plots and in linear plots, in the intensities of a plot to each four hectares (1:4), a plots to each seven hectares (1:7) and a plot to each ten hectares (1:10). it was also Made the counting of the number of present shafts in each stand through digital aerial pictures. The evaluation of the accuracy of the estimate of the number of shafts and volume for each method inside of the respective sample intensities was made through the accuracy matrix. The use of variografic analysis allowed detecting that the two appraised characteristics came spatially structured. Therefore, there is a space model modeling this structure. The spa tial continuity was detected in all sample intensities and ways of appraised plots, for shaft number. For volume, in the sample intensity 1:10, it was not possible to detect spatial continuity. There was significant difference among the appraised methods for the variable shaft number in the three sample intensities.
