Resumo: | ABSTRACT In the last three years, the Coronavirus pandemic has raised people´s curiosity about the evolution of this virus and about how such a virus commonly found in bats jumped to humans. In this sense, scientists published numerous articles, videos, films and reports addressing concepts about the evolution of living beings - object of study of this research. On the other hand, studies showed that most high school students could neither understand such concepts nor relate them to their daily lives. To overcome such difficulties, this work presents a didactic sequence -SD for teaching the evolution of living beings in High School. The research aimed to evaluate not only the role SD plays in students´ learning the evolution of living beings based on investigative methodologies, but also its effectiveness in helping students to understand those concepts. Researcher obtained data through participant observation techniques and the application of pre- and post- SD questionnaires. Students' records made during the performance of the SD activities and data collected in the questionnaires proposed in the SD contributed to the students' understanding of how one builds the scientific knowledge. Research also detected a significant advance in students' understanding of concepts related to the evolution of living beings. The final products of this work were an SD and students´ written texts about the evolution of living beings, which evidenced the protagonism of the students achieved through the proposal of teaching by means of investigating. |
