Resumo: Lava files is a work interested in the analysis and in the juxtaposition of several visual manifestations linked to a same volcano - the Fogo Volcano - located in archipelago of Cape Verde. The research is dedicated to build an editorial volume focused on editing images of the volcano’s last three eruptions (1951, 1995, 2014). From this mass of visual documents — which is separated in time and space by constraints linked to authorship and possession — is possible to unveils the set of forces that operated for the materialization and protection of the respective statements of each of these sets of images. The textual volume is concerned with describing the paths of research, historical references and conceptual decisions that led to the construction of the artist book. The discussion is centered on the concepts of archive, book and memory. It intends to stress the conformation zones of photography from its quality as a historical document.
