Among the academic discussion involving the right to housing and the access to the city, the social exclusion found in the Brazilian cities has its main evidences the in the illegal occupation of urban space and the self-construction made by the low-income population. Nevertheless, the questioning present in the following work understands the housing subsistence of the poor not only as a result of the exclusionary characterof the housing market and the inefficiency of public policies. The self-construction context also reveals the restriction to access the technical/scientific knowledge for housing production. Therefore, the main premise constitutes that the constructive practice similar to allhuman actions, having the possibility to be directed to the exchange of information and the transformation of individual knowledges structure. Therefore, among shared process of housing construction it is possible to create a horizontal relation between the popular knowledge, socially developed by the self-constructers, and the codified knowledge of the specialized professionals in civil construction (such as architectsand engineers). Among this cooperative relation, the construction of space would determine a contribution to minimize the social difference that restricts access to housing and city. Being integrated in the research group PRAXIS Social practices in the Urban Space - and related to the research project DIALOGOS The mediation of information in the production and usage of housing, the following study has as its object the experimental shared process of housing construction trough the mediation of information, made by the researchers/architects and the members of Irmã Dorothys community in the period of June 2010 and June 2010.
