Resumo: The existence of God (2004) is an attempt of Richard Swinburne, with the help of the probability theory, to reformulate inductively the historical arguments for the existence of God, demonstrating the theistic hypothesis as probably true. These arguments have a common structure that starts from two theories of inductive reasoning: Bayesian confirmation theory and inference to the best explanation. This research intends to explain this structure. Three Swinburne’s arguments are studied in light of this structure: The cosmological argument, the argument of the soul, and the argument from miracles. Finally, some objections are raised and responded.

Esses argumentos têm uma estrutura comum que parte de duas teorias de raciocínio indutivo: teoria da confirmação bayesiana e inferência da melhor explicação.
