Produtos técnicos e tecnológicos de mestrados profissionais e suas contribuições para a gestão da educação superior

Professional master's courses emerged as a stricto sensu postgraduate modality in Brazil, regulated in 1998 by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). The main characteristic of a professional master's degree is the provision for prepare a final product, aimed at solving a real problem in the student's area of professional activity. Considering the relevance and impact of these productions on different sectors of society, CAPES began a process of improving its postgraduate evaluation system, which includes technical and technological products (PTT) developed within the scope of professional master's degrees. In this scenario, a new evaluation form was defined by CAPES, effective from 2019, in order to establish standardized evaluation criteria and typologies for each area. The research problem focused on investigating how the PTT prepared in professional master's degrees in Area 38 - Education are configured, how they contemplate the demands of higher education management and whether they were prepared in line with the new typologies of the evaluation form. The main objective was to analyze the technical and technological products related to Higher Education Management and prepared, in the period from 2019 to 2022, in professional master's degrees in the field of Education. This research adopted a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive approach based on a bibliographical survey to support the theoretical and documentary contribution, in addition to collecting dissertations, products and guiding documents from CAPES. 326 dissertations were collected, from which a total of 44 technical and technological products were identified, related to the focus of this research. The results indicated that the PTT were prepared in accordance with the typologies provided for in the new evaluation form for the area of education, focused on the typology of teaching and instructional materials and sought to meet various demands of higher education management. As a final product, the PTT catalog on higher education management was obtained, with the purpose of publicizing these products and stimulating debate about the need for regulation and development of new typologies.
