Resumo: Realizado ininterruptamente entre 1995 e 2019, o Festival Nacional da Seresta é um evento anual promovido pela iniciativa privada, mas com apoio da Prefeitura do Recife (PE) e do Governo do Estado, e que acontece no bairro do Recife Antigo, centro histórico da capital pernambucana. Nesta dissertação, refletimos sobre a importância do Festival para o projeto de revitalização histórica do bairro e fizemos uma análise da curadoria para propor a hipótese de que o evento se enquadra na categoria de tradição inventada (Hobsbawm, 2002) com o objetivo de criar uma aura de nostalgia e boemia vinculada ao local, embora essa boemia seja modificada. A pesquisa mostrou, também, que, no Festival da Seresta, há um vínculo entre o conceito de seresta e a ideia de nostalgia; que o público mais velho tem o repertório do evento como referência de nostalgia e, por isso, com o passar do tempo, o público muda e, com ele, mudam as referências também. Procuramos, assim, contribuir para uma melhor compreensão dos papéis que a música pode desempenhar na atribuição de sentido aos lugares e na invenção de tradições.

In this dissertation, we reflected on the importance of the Festival for the historical revitalization project of the neighborhood and made an analysis of the curatorship to propose the hypothesis that the event falls into the category of invented tradition (Hobsbawm, 2002) with the aim of creating an aura of nostalgia and bohemia linked to the place, although this bohemia is modified. The research also showed that, at the Festival da Seresta, there is a link between the concept of seresta and the idea of nostalgia; that the older audience has the event's repertoire as a reference for nostalgia and, therefore, with the passage of time, the audience changes and, with it, so do the references.
