This work aims to deal with the biography and work of two Peloton composers of the last century. Respectively my great-grandfather and his brother. Both were active in the world of music in Pelotas and especially in the carnival, leaving a musical work that reaches to the present day. The study will be carried out from an ethnography with friends of the musicians, familiar and bibliographical bibliographical research of his work, thus accomplishing a catalogation of his compositions. In this way, it is possible to visualize the samba music scene in the city during the period of several decades, its transformations, the spaces in which the presentations were developed, their partnerships, old meeting places, the clash between the carnival community and the public power, the difficulties of insertion of the black in this society, the advances, morals, ethics and wisdom of the carnivals that passed with the composers of the city. The theme has to be added in the bibliography about the history of the carnival of the city of Pelotas, that despite many researches that have been realized there are gaps and lack of organization of its information, so much is linked to an oral tradition that needs to be compiled for preservation.
