The following master's research is based on the perception that the Thematic Nucleus of the Drought and Semi-Arid of Rio Grande do Norte (NUT-Seca) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte can relocate itself as an active and dynamic agent of knowledge production in the Drought and semi-arid domain. For this purpose, one of the alternatives would be the application of knowledge management tools and practices, including the mapping of knowledge networks, due to its potential to leverage knowledge sharing and the development of new information products and services. In this sense, the research aims to carry out an analysis and mapping of the Drought and semi-arid domain and its knowledge networks. As specific objectives, the research proposes to analyze the scientific production in the domain, describe the structure, components and characteristics of knowledge networks and propose, derived from mapping, other tools, and practices of Knowledge Management to be applied by NUT-Seca. The research mobilizes a theoretical framework that has as axes the social, situated, and contextual nature of knowledge; a critical perspective on Knowledge Management and the importance of the territory to anchor strategic analyses, as well as conceptual aspects on social networks and knowledge networks. Domain Analysis is used as a methodological focus, considering its emphasis on exploring the social contexts of knowledge production and communication, in addition to its agents, documents and communication flows. As sources of data for the mapping, the Scopus database, and the Directory of Research Groups of CNPq are used. Bibliometric methods and Social Network Analysis are applied for the description of scientific production in the domain and the mapping of networks. As a result, networks of coauthorship, co-citation, bibliographic coupling, and research groups were mapped, among others. As a result of this mapping, six Knowledge Management tools and practices are proposed at NUT-Seca: maps of knowledge networks in the domain, meetings and thematic meetings, technical report, knowledge organization systems, continuing education, and systematic mapping of knowledge networks. knowledge. It is concluded that the mapping carried out brings important subsidies for Knowledge Management in order to strengthen research in the field of drought and semi-arid conditions, thus enabling closer ties of collaboration and knowledge sharing between those involved.
