Resumo: Decree 5,478/2005 establishes the profissionalization Program for Young and Adults in the Educational Federal Institutions. It was changed by Decree 5,840/2006, which set the National Program of Integr ation of the Professional Education with the Basic Education in Young and Adults Modality. This Program is a new challenge, because it offers an opportunity for some people to have a high school and professional education both for those who hadn t it in a proper time. The Federal Agricultural School from Rio do Sul started this program in 2005, when the Pedagogic Project from the course was created. The Alternating Pedagogic was chosen as the model to follow, integrated to High School. There were offered 25 places. 38 did the inscription, but only 27 came to interview. These 27 made the registration and started to study. But half year later, there were only 15 students attending to the classes, and 2 of them entered the regular course studies and 12 of them left school. This paper aims to comprehend the reasons why students left school. The references are: researches about; other researches about dropout; official documents analysis; the course pedagogic project; other school registrations; reports and minutes of meetings from the School. A questionnaire was applied as a guide to collect data from registered students and another from those who left. The results show that the Agricultural Technician Course for Young and Adults deals with people who work on their land, earning no more than four minimum wage a month. Their parents also have low education studies. 36% told that they gave up because it was too difficult to manage both study and work. Other 46% said they couldn t study because they had to work or the y wished to work in order to provide subsistence or keep family s standard of living. And finally, 18% told that they didn t fit the school. As seen above, the dropout was mainly caused by the way the course was offered: during daytime; the mode switching; and exclusion of some candidates already in the selection process. No other class could be made, because there were no sufficient candidates for it. Our conclusion is that this kind of course will only work for those grown up who already has a family and has a job if it would be offered in the student s community, at night or in mode switching.

Educa??o B?sica na Modalidade de Educa??o de Jovens e Adultos (PROEJA). Este Programa traz para as IFE s um no vo desafio, que ? atender uma parcela da popula??o que n?o obteve oportunidade de educa??o b?sica de n?vel m?dio e educa??o profissional na idade regular. A Escola Agrot?cnica Federal de Rio do Sul (EAFRS) imediatamente acatou a cria??o do PROEJA e j? em 2005 deu in?cio ? elabora??o do Projeto Pedag?gico do Curso. Optou-se por implantar o curso nos moldes da Pedagogia da Altern?ncia, articulado com o ensino m?dio de forma integrada. Foram disponibilizadas 25 vagas, ocorreram 38 inscri??es para o ingresso, apenas 27 realizaram a entrevista e fo i oportunizada e realizada a matr?cula aos 27. No segundo semestre, apenas 15 alunos retornaram para a escola, sendo que dois destes mudaram para o curso subsequente e 12 se evadiram. Com o objetivo de compreender as causas da evas?o escolar desses alunos, foi usada, na investiga??o, a an?lise da literatura sobre pol?ticas de educa??o profissional e educa??o de jovens e adultos, bem como, pesquisas sobre evas?o escolar, ainda foi realizada a an?lise de documentos oficiais, projeto pedag?gico do curso, registros escolares, relat?rios e atas de reuni?es da EAFRS. Como instrumento de coleta de dados foi aplicado um question?rio, aos alunos matriculados no curso que evadiram e outro aos que permaneceram. A pesquisa indicou que no Curso T?cnico Agr?cola da EAFRS, oferecido na modalidade de EJA, a grande maioria dos alunos trabalha e possui renda familiar de at? quatro sal?rios m?nimos e s?o filhos de pais com baixa escolaridade. Apontou ainda que 36% dos alunos evadiram devido ? dificuldade em conciliar hor?rio de estudo com o trabalho, 46% evadiram por precisar ou desejar trabalhar, para a sua subsist?ncia ou para manter o padr?o de vida dele e da fam?lia e 18% por n?o se adaptarem a escola. Desta forma foi determinante para evas?o a forma de oferta do curso, hor?rio diurno e modo de altern?ncia, bem como a exclus?o de outros j? no processo seletivo, de forma que para constituir uma segunda turma n?o houve candidatos.
