Resumo: This study aimed to evaluate the degree of importance of the projects methodology as a proposal to raise the quality of teaching, improving learning and promoting the development of key attributes to the insertion of students into society and the job market, has been developed from March 2007 to July 2008, involving 29 agriculture students.Was adopted as the basic theme of studies the evaluation of the behavior of eight species of legumes used as green manure, grown in the autumn-winter and spring-summer, on the system with and without weeding. Working arranged in groups of up to three components, the students began and conducted an experimental unit where collected periodic information about the behavior of the studied species, generating varied opportunities for discussion and exchange of information.The level of contribution from the use of this methodology of teaching in school life and professional of the students was evaluated through a questionnaire developed in the numerical scales form applied to students involved in this research, after its completion. The results revealed the acquisition of a high level of technical knowledge by the students on the studied subject, being able to identify the species with a better condition to adapt to local conditions and different types of management. Furthermore, this methodology, due its dynamic character, provided a greater interplay between theory and practice, higher teaching contextualization, interaction between the content and integration of knowledge areas, which allowed students to develop a set of essential skills for their insertion into society and the exercise of professional activities. It is therefore concluded, that teaching through the projects methodology differed from other methods adopted at the Santa Teresa campus, having been composed in the best way to rescue the academic success, promoting higher standards of student learning and improving the quality of the professionals trained in the institution.

O ensaio experimental foi desenvolvido no per?odo de mar?o de 2007 a julho de 2008, envolvendo 29 alunos do curso de agricultura. Adotou-se como tem?tica b?sica de estudos, a avalia??o do comportamento de oito esp?cies de leguminosas utilizadas como adubo verde, cultivadas nos per?odos de outono-inverno e primavera-ver?o, no sistema com e sem capina. Organizados em grupos de at? tr?s componentes, os estudantes implantaram e conduziram uma unidade experimental onde colheram informa??es peri?dicas sobre o comportamento das esp?cies estudadas, gerando variadas oportunidades de discuss?o e troca de informa??es. O n?vel de contribui??o desta metodologia de ensino na vida escolar e profissional dos estudantes foi avaliado, ap?s o t?rmino da pesquisa, atrav?s de question?rio desenvolvido sob a forma de escalas num?ricas aplicado aos alunos envolvidos na pesquisa. Os resultados revelaram a aquisi??o de um alto n?vel de conhecimento t?cnico pelos alunos sobre o assunto estudado, sendo capazes de identificar as esp?cies com melhor poder de adapta??o ?s condi??es locais e aos diferentes tipos de manejo. Al?m disso, esta metodologia pelo seu car?ter dinamizador proporcionou um maior inter-relacionamento entre teoria e pr?tica, maior contextualiza??o do ensino, intera??o entre os conte?dos e integra??o entre as ?reas do conhecimento, o que possibilitou aos alunos o desenvolvimento de um conjunto de compet?ncias essenciais ? sua inser??o na sociedade e ao exerc?cio das atividades profissionais.
