Resumo: | This dissertation examines Mémoire de fille (2016), by Annie Ernaux. Inscribed within the tradition of contemporary female authorship, Ernaux proposes an aesthetic weaving of memory in which the self emerges as both an individual and collective instance. The main objective of this study is to explore Mémoire de fille through the lens of autossociobiography – a subgenre of autobiography that intertwines personal experience with historical and social context – and of ekphrasis, understood as a narrative device that produces verbal images of the past. The specific objectives are: to analyze the dialogues between the work and the principles of autossociobiography; to reflect on the writing of the body and female sexuality, with emphasis on the experience of virginity loss; to investigate the aesthetic devices of remembrance, particularly ekphrasis; and to examine écriture plate as an aesthetic choice that allows facts to speak for themselves, without rhetorical ornamentation or explicit poetic effects. In this sense, the study seeks to understand how Ernaux constructs an aesthetics of recollection in Mémoire de fille, articulating the resources of autossociobiography, ekphrasis, and écriture plate to reinscribe female experience within autobiographical discourse. The methodology is based on textual and interpretative analysis, adopting an interdisciplinary approach supported by references from literary studies, autobiographical theory, and cultural studies, drawing on authors such as Philippe Lejeune (2008, 2010) and Jacques Lecarme and Éliane Lecarme Tabone (2015) in the field of autobiography; Simone de Beauvoir (2016), Michelle Perrot (2017), Stuart Hall (2005), Zygmunt Bauman (2013), and Terry Eagleton (2011) for studies on female authorship, identity, and sexuality; and Jacques Le Goff (1996), Henri Bergson (1999), Roland Barthes (2015), João Adolfo Hansen (2025), and Álvaro Cardoso Gomes (2015) for reflections on memory and imagery. The dissertation is organized into two main parts: the first dedicated to writings of the self, encompassing two chapters on autobiographical and sexual theories; and the second comprising three chapters focused on the formal devices of Ernaux’s writing. |

L’objectif général de cette recherche est d’examiner Mémoire de fille à la lumière de l’autosociobiographie – sous-genre autobiographique qui entrelace expérience personnelle et contexte historico-social – et de l’ekphrasis, comprise comme procédé narratif produisant des images verbales du passé. Les objectifs spécifiques incluent : analyser les dialogues entre l’œuvre et les fondements de l’autosociobiographie ; réfléchir sur l’écriture du corps et de la sexualité féminine, en particulier l’expérience de la perte de la virginité ; étudier les dispositifs esthétiques de remémoration, notamment l’ekphrasis ; et comprendre l’écriture plate comme choix esthétique qui laisse les faits parler d’eux-mêmes, sans ornements rhétoriques ni effets poétiques évidents. Dans cette perspective, il s’agit de comprendre comment Annie Ernaux construit une esthétique de la remémoration dans Mémoire de fille, en articulant les ressources de l’autosociobiographie, de l’ekphrasis et de l’écriture plate afin de réinscrire l’expérience féminine dans le discours autobiographique. La méthodologie adoptée repose sur l’analyse textuelle et interprétative, dans une approche interdisciplinaire soutenue par les études littéraires, la théorie autobiographique et les études culturelles, en s’appuyant sur les travaux de Philippe Lejeune (2008, 2010), Jacques Lecarme et Éliane Lecarme-Tabone (2015) dans le domaine de l’autobiographie ; de Simone de Beauvoir (2016), Michelle Perrot (2017), Stuart Hall (2005), Zygmunt Bauman (2013) et Terry Eagleton (2011) pour les études sur l’écriture féminine, l’identité et la sexualité ; et de Jacques Le Goff (1996), Henri Bergson (1999), Roland Barthes (2015), João Adolfo Hansen (2025) et Álvaro Cardoso Gomes (2015) concernant la mémoire et l’imaginaire. Le travail est structuré en deux parties : la première consacrée aux écritures de soi, comprenant deux chapitres centrés sur les théories autobiographiques et de la sexualité ; la seconde composée de trois chapitres portant sur les dispositifs formels de l’écriture d’Annie Ernaux.O presente trabalho tem por objeto de estudo a obra Mémoire de fille (2016), de Annie Ernaux. Inserida na tradição da autoria feminina contemporânea, Ernaux propõe uma tessitura estética da memória em que o “eu” se inscreve como instância individual e coletiva. O objetivo geral deste trabalho é explorar a obra Mémoire de fille à luz da autossociobiografia, subgênero autobiográfico que entrelaça vivência pessoal e contexto histórico-social, e da écfrase, compreendida como recurso narrativo que produz imagens verbais do passado. Os objetivos específicos incluem: examinar os diálogos entre a obra e os pressupostos da autossociobiografia; refletir sobre a escrita do corpo e da sexualidade feminina, com foco na experiência da perda da virgindade; investigar os dispositivos estéticos de rememoração, em especial a écfrase; e compreender a écriture plate – também como escolha estética que permite aos fatos falarem por si, sem muitos ornamentos retóricos ou efeitos poéticos evidentes. Nesse sentido, buscamos entender como Annie Ernaux constrói uma estética da recordação em Mémoire de fille, articulando os recursos da autossociobiografia, da écfrase e da écriture plate para reinscrever a experiência feminina no discurso autobiográfico. A metodologia baseia-se na análise textual e interpretativa, com abordagem interdisciplinar sustentada por referenciais dos estudos literários, da teoria autobiográfica e dos estudos culturais a partir dos autores: Philippe Lejeune (2008, 2010) e Jacques Lecarme e Éliane Lecarme-Tabone (2015), no campo da autobiografia; para os estudos da escrita de autoria feminina, da identidade e da sexualidade, em Simone de Beauvoir (2016), Michelle Perrot (2017), Stuart Hall (2005), Zygmunt Bauman (2013) e Terry Eagleton (2011); e, no que tange aos estudos da memória e do imagético, em Jacques Le Goff (1996), Henri Bergson (1999), Roland Barthes (2015), João Adolfo Hansen (2025) e Álvaro Cardoso Gomes (2015).
