Resumo: | This thesis aims to investigate, categorize and nominate an especific Participant of material sentences, which hasn‟t been identified in the transitivity system of the ideational metafunction of systemic-functional grammar (HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2014) in confluence with the participants Agent and Middle, belonging to the system of ergativity. This functionalist approach understands language as a system that can be stratified and categorized. In view of this possibility, we believe that the categorization of participants who can compose a sentence represented by a material process is not fixed and finished. Several possibilities can still be explored. In order to accomplish our objective, we analyzed examples that focus on the concept of the subject, according to different authors of grammars of the Portuguese language, such as Macambira (1978), Almeida (2009), Bechara (2010), Câmara Jr. (2011) and Azeredo (2013). We selected a total of 25 processes pointed by these authors with occurrences of instigating analysis that allow different interpretations. These sentences constituted our first corpus. From this, we delimit our second corpus: 68 sentences of these 25 different processes – extracted from works of the main specialists in the study of Portuguese grammar – analyzed in examples derived from the Corpus Brasileiro (Brazilian Corpus) of PUC-SP, verifying such occurrences in relation to a context. The analyzes allowed the separation of verbs into semantic groups of occurrences, contributing to reach the objectives of the research. We believe that, with our research, we have been able to prove the existence of a new participant to possibly occupy a function with material processes, which is distinguished from the roles of Actor, Goal, Scope, Beneficiary and Client. Data analysis shows the trajectory traversed to the definition and characterization of this Participant on the light of the systemic-functional approach. In addition, we believe we have made a significant contribution to the development of the studies in transitivity/ergativity in Portuguese language from a systemic-functional perspective. |

In addition, we believe we have made a significant contribution to the development of the studies in transitivity/ergativity in Portuguese language from a systemic-functional perspective.Esta tese tem por objetivo investigar, categorizar e nomear um Participante1 específico de orações materiais, o qual ainda não foi identificado no sistema de transitividade da metafunção ideacional da gramática sistêmico-funcional (HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2014) em confluência com os participantes Agente e Meio, pertencentes ao sistema de ergatividade. Esta abordagem funcionalista entende a linguagem como um sistema que pode ser estratificado e categorizado. Tendo em vista essa possibilidade, acreditamos que a categorização dos participantes que podem compor uma oração representada por um processo material não está fixa e finalizada. Diversas possibilidades ainda podem ser exploradas. Para cumprir nosso objetivo, foram analisados exemplos que se destacam quanto à abordagem do conceito de sujeito, segundo diferentes autores de gramáticas da língua portuguesa, como Macambira (1978), Almeida (2009), Bechara (2010), Câmara Jr. (2011) e Azeredo (2013). Selecionamos um total de 25 processos apontados por esses autores com ocorrências de análise instigante, que permitem diferentes interpretações. Essas orações constituíram o nosso primeiro corpus. A partir disso, delimitamos o nosso segundo corpus: 68 orações desses 25 diferentes processos – retirados de obras dos principais especialistas no estudo da gramática da língua portuguesa – que foram buscados e analisados em exemplos atuais, estes advindos do Corpus Brasileiro da PUC-SP, tomando tais ocorrências como processos situados em um contexto. As análises permitiram a separação dos verbos em grupos semânticos de ocorrência, contribuindo para atingir os objetivos da pesquisa. Acreditamos que, com nosso trabalho, conseguimos demonstrar que é possível identificar e nomear um participante até então não categorizado no sistema de transitividade, para ocupar uma função junto aos processos materiais, o qual se distingue dos papéis de Ator, Meta, Escopo, Beneficiário e Cliente. A análise dos dados mostra a trajetória percorrida para definição e caracterização desse Participante à luz da abordagem sistêmico-funcional. Além disso, cremos poder contribuir significativamente para o desenvolvimento dos estudos em transitividade/ergatividade em língua portuguesa sob uma perspectiva sistêmico-funcional.porUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Artes e LetrasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em LetrasUFSMBrasilLetrasAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessGramática sistêmico-funcionalLíngua portuguesaSistema de transitividadeProcessos materiaisErgatividadeSystemic-functional grammarTransitivity systemMaterial processesPortuguese languageErgativityCNPQ::LINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTES::LETRASTransitividade e ergatividade em processos materiais em língua portuguesa na perspectiva da linguística sistêmico-funcionalTransitivity and ergativity in material processes in portuguese language in the perspective of the systemic-functional linguisticsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisCabral, Sara Regina Scottahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9037816308995897Rodrigues Júnior, Adail Sebastiãohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2088498267748957Rottava, Luciahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/5239468819834677Gehrke, Nara Augustinhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2570517651731767Barros, Nina Célia Almeida dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6663081785223445http://lattes.cnpq.br/2216935141210779Lima, Lauro Rafael800200000001600ac0c2af3-3902-425c-ad0d-0cb8e620f9f64fb0ef28-dec2-41a8-ac37-8642f62cc97cdfb2dc41-a038-48fb-8ce5-ec7bdcaa268726b8da1b-ea6e-4bcf-b173-077babaedf581eff133d-88f9-4c20-aa79-fefd26ff967da5831b48-b506-4667-be93-6b1732156a1areponame:Manancial - Repositório Digital da UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMCC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
