Resumo: The objective of this study, as an area of concentration in sociocultural and pedagogical studies of Physical Education, is to present an analysis of the function of the school space and the Leisure space and what exists in common between them, in the sense of understanding. Regarding methodology, the study is characterized by bibliographical research and the discussion of results and possibilities will be presented in the form of an article, with the intention of answering our research problem: What is common between the role of school Physical Education and the role of Leisure? We followed a path that provided an understanding of the role of the school, the role of school Physical Education and Leisure and what is common between these spaces and the existence or not of the possibility of working Leisure in School Physical Education. Our hypothesis that a mistake is established when we understand that Physical Education should develop the practice of Leisure at School was confirmed, accompanied by the understanding that this mistake is sustained by the fact that both spaces work with the dimension of body culture, in addition to that, both in Leisure and in Physical Education at school, corporal practices can be developed through ludic experiences. However, they constitute spaces with different objectives.

Em relação à metodologia, o estudo se caracteriza pela pesquisa bibliográfica e a discussão resultados e possibilidades serão apresentadas em forma de um artigo, com a intenção de responder a nossa problemática de pesquisa: O que há de comum entre a função da Educação Física escolar e a função do Lazer? Percorremos um caminho que proporcionou apresentar o entendimento da função da escola, a função da Educação Física escolar e do Lazer e o que existe de comum entre estes espaços e a existência ou não, da possibilidade de trabalhar o Lazer na Educação Física escolar. Nossa hipótese de que se estabelece um equívoco quando entendemos que na Escola a Educação Física deve desenvolver a prática do Lazer foi confirmada, acompanhado de o entendimento de que esse equívoco se sustenta pelo fato de que ambos os espaços trabalham com a dimensão da cultura corporal, além de que, tanto no Lazer quanto na Educação Física escolar, podem-se desenvolver práticas corporais através de experiências lúdicas.
