Resumo: The geographical proximity of municipalities does not necessarily guarantee equivalent development. In this context, the present research aims to ―Compare the different development trajectories of the Alto Uruguai regions of Rio Grande do Sul and the extreme west of Santa Catarina from the theoretical framework of Endogenous and Regional Development and Social Capital, within the scope of Agribusiness‖ . To reach the objective, the present research is arranged in 02 studies. The first contemplates the state of the art involving 04 themes: Endogenous Development, Regional Development, Social Capital and Agribusiness. A Systematic Review was carried out, which identified an interrelationship between the 04 themes. The second study deals with the trajectories of productive specialization and economic development in the Alto Uruguai regions of Rio Grande do Sul and the Far West of Santa Catarina, in which the indicators of productive specialization in the Agriculture and Transformation Industry sectors are verified. It was possible to identify that there are differences between regions and within each region.

Neste contexto, a presente pesquisa tem o objetivo de ―Comparar as diferentes trajetórias de desenvolvimento das Regiões Alto Uruguai do Rio Grande do Sul e extremo oeste catarinense a partir do arcabouço teórico do Desenvolvimento Endógeno e Regional e do Capital Social, no âmbito do Agronegócio‖. Para o alcance do objetivo, a presente pesquisa está disposta em 02 estudos. O primeiro contempla o estado da arte envolvendo 04 temas: Desenvolvimento Endógeno, Desenvolvimento Regional, Capital Social e Agronegócio. Foi feita uma Revisão Sistemática, a qual identificou uma inter-relação entre os 04 temas. O segundo estudo versa sobre as trajetórias de especialização produtiva e de desenvolvimento econômico das Regiões Alto Uruguai do Rio Grande do Sul e Extremo Oeste de Santa Catarina, em que são verificados os indicadores de especialização produtiva dos setores da Agricultura e Indústria de Transformação.
