Resumo: In This Thesis, I Intend To Examine David Hume's Discussion Of External Objects And Personal Identity. Specifically, My Purpose Is To Compare The Explanations Given By Hume To The Identity Of External Objects And To Personal Identity Throughout The Text Of The Treatise In Order To Estimate Assess Whether The Former Is Useful To Hume's Reader To Understand The Latter. Such A Comparison Finds Its Justification In The Words Of Hume Himself, Who In The Treatise Clearly States That The Explanation For The Intellectual World Is Free From The Obscurities Present In The Explanation Given To The Natural World, But, In Writing The "Appendix", It Reconsiders Its Evaluation Initial. Although The Analyzes Present The Same Explanatory Scheme, Operation Of The Imagination Together With The Qualities Of Coherence And Constancy Manifested By The Perceptions, I Propose That The Explanation Provided By Hume For The Objects Of The External World Does Not Enable The Reader To Understand The Specificity Of The Discussion Of Person

De Maneira Específica, O Meu Objetivo É Comparar As Explicações Apresentadas Por Hume Para A Identidade Dos Objetos Externos E Para A Identidade Pessoal Ao Longo Do Texto Do Tratado A Fim De Avaliar Se A Primeira É Útil Para O Leitor De Hume Entender A Segunda. Tal Comparação Encontra Sua Justificativa Nas Palavras Do Próprio Hume Que, No Tratado, Afirma Claramente Que A Explicação Para O Mundo Intelectual Está Livre Das Obscuridades Presentes Na Explicação Fornecida Para O Mundo Natural, Mas, Ao Redigir O "Apêndice", Reconsidera A Sua Avalição Inicial. Embora As Análises Apresentem Um Mesmo Esquema Explicativo, Operação Da Imaginação Junto Com As Qualidades De Coerência E Constância Manifestas Pelas Percepções, Proponho Que A Explicação Fornecida Por Hume Para Os Objetos Do Mundo Exterior Não Possibilita Ao Leitor Entender A Especificidade Da Discussão Da Identidade Pessoal.
