Objective: To assess the feasibility of using blockchain technology in the citizen's health record, guaranteeing the patient as the sole owner of their health information, consistent with the principles of the national health system. Methods: This is applied research of technological production and innovation to propose an alternative model for the development of electronic health records. It is based on bibliographic studies, interviews with professionals in health informatics to propose the design of the model using blockchain technology. Results: After the studies carried out, a significant set of applications, advantages, disadvantages and obstacles in the use of blockchain technology in the citizen's health record were identified. The benefits were presented, verifying that further studies are needed to overcome technological, cultural and legal challenges. Conclusions: The proposed model presents the feasibility of its implementation and evaluation in future studies.
