Resumo: INTRODUCTION: The Virtual Reality (VR) is a possible environmental factor that positively influences the performance and the ability of the individual in executing tasks, and even their body functions and structures. VR can help the application of motor learning principles and the neuroplasticity during rehabilitation, allowing for a better functionality level and the active participation of the user in the rehabilitation process. Literature points out evidences that the technologies with the use of games started being accepted in rehabilitation environments, especially with patients that suffered strokes. OBJECTIVE: Describing he changes in the functionality components (activity and participation) provoked by the use of virtual reality as a therapeutic resource for patients who had strokes. METHODOLOGY: This study was a longitudinal intervention (pre- and post-test) with a quantitative and qualitative methodology, divided in two stages. Stage I: A realization of the tie pre-test/post-test was conducted with the use of VR to improve the involvement in the participation and diminish the activity limitations of adults who had strokes. The instruments COPM and P-SCALE were used to obtain information regarding the changes in their occupational performance and their participation, respectively. Stage II: Qualitative and phenomenological approach, targeted at the universe of meaning and experience of patients regarding the use of VR during the rehabilitation sections. The intervention program was made up of three weekly sections during 40 minutes each, for 12 weeks. The console used was the Xbox 360, with the ®KINECT movement sensors, that captured the movements of the body of the patients. RESULTS: There were 10 participants, six male and four female, aging from 21 to 59 years of age, who had been afflicted by the stroke from 2 to 24 months at the time of the research. The activities reported in the COPM were distributed in the categories of self-care, productive activities and leisure-related activities, and were mostly related to an inability to perform selfcare activities. In the domains performance and satisfaction, after both pre- and post-test, there was a significant improvement (P<0.001). The statistical power reached for 10 subjects was 99%. The results of the participation with the PScale in both tests showed meaningful increases (p=0.046) after intervention and reached a statistical power of 59.96%. From the analysis of the interviews, the following thematic categories were identified in the narratives: (1) Losses, ruptures and difficulties after the stroke; (2) video game use and its potential; and (3) improvement in functionality and future plans. CONCLUSION: The VR has showed itself to be a n important therapeutic resource, efficient to provoke meaningful changes in the functionality components (activity and participation) in stroke patients.

CONCLUSION: The VR has showed itself to be a n important therapeutic resource, efficient to provoke meaningful changes in the functionality components (activity and participation) in stroke patients.INTRODUCCIÓN: La utilización de realidad virtual (RV) es un elemento ambiental que puede influenciar positivamente el rendimiento y la capacidad del individuo para la ejecución de tareas o mismo la función o estructura de su cuerpo. La RV puede ayudar en la aplicación de los principios de aprendizaje motora y de la neuroplasticidad a lo largo de la rehabilitación, haciendo posible que el usuario participe más activamente en su proceso de rehabilitación. La literatura indica evidencias de que las tecnologías que utilizan juegos empezaron a ser aceptadas en los ambientes de rehabilitación, especialmente entre los pacientes que sufrieron accidentes vascular encefálico (AVE). OBJETIVO: Describir los cambios en los componentes de funcionalidad (actividad y participación) y reducir las limitaciones en actividades de adultos con AVE después del uso de la realidad virtual como recurso de la terapia. METODOLOGÍA: Este estudio longitudinal es una intervención (pre-teste/posteste) que adoptó una metodología cuantitativa y cualitativa, que se dividió en dos etapas. Etapa I: se realizó una intervención de tipo pre-teste/pos-teste utilizando la RV para aprimorar el envolvimiento en la participación y reducir las limitaciones en actividades de adultos con AVE. A los instrumentos COPM y PSCALE se los aplicó para obtener informaciones sobre los cambios en el rendimiento ocupacional y en la participación de los participantes, respectivamente. Etapa II: abordaje cualitativa, fenomenológica, cuyo punto principal fue los universos de significados y experiencia de pacientes sobre la utilización de la VR a lo largo de las secciones de rehabilitación. El programa de rehabilitación incluyó tres secciones de 40 minutos a lo largo de 12 semanas. Se utilizó al vídeo game Xbox 360, con la utilización de sensores de movimiento ®KINECT, que captan los movimientos del cuerpo de los participantes. RESULTADOS: Participaron 10 personas, seis hombres y cuatromujeres, cuyas edades variaron de 21 a 59 años, víctimas del AVE hacía de 2 a 24 meses. Las actividades relatadas en la COPM estaban distribuídas en las categorías autocuidado, actividades productivas y actividades relacionadas al ocio/placer – hubo predominio de la incapacidad en actividades relacionadas al autocuidado. Para los dominios de rendimiento y satisfacción en las dos etapas de evaluación (pre- y pos-teste), hubo un aumento significativo (p<0,001) después de la intervención. El poder estadístico para los 10 participantes fue 99%. Los resultados de la participación con la P-Scale en las dos etapas de la evaluación presentaron un aumento significativo (p=0,046) después de la intervención, con un poder estadístico de 59.96%. Después de analizar a las entrevistas, a las siguientes categorías temáticas se las identificó en las narrativas: (1) Pierdas, rupturas y dificultades después del AVE; (2) la utilización del vídeo game y su potencial; (3) mejora en la funcionalidad y planos para el futuro. CONCLUSIÓN: La RV se muestra, por lo tanto, como un recurso terapéutico eficiente para que generar cambios significativos en los componentes de funcionalidad (actividad y participación) en pacientes con AVE.INTRODUÇÂO: A realidade virtual (RV) se mostra como um possível fator ambiental com influência positiva sobre o desempenho e a capacidade do indivíduo para executar tarefas, e mesmo sobre as funções ou estruturas do corpo do usuário. A RV pode facilitar a aplicação dos princípios de aprendizagem motora e da neuroplasticidade durante a reabilitação, proporcionando um maior nível de funcionalidade e participação ativa do usuário no processo de reabilitação. A literatura aponta evidências de que as tecnologias com o uso dos jogos passaram a ser incorporados em ambientes de reabilitação, principalmente com pacientes que sofreram acidente vascular encefálico (AVE) OBJETIVO: Descrever as mudanças nos componentes de funcionalidade (atividade e participação) em pacientes com AVE após o uso da realidade virtual como recurso terapêutico. METODOLOGIA: Estudo de intervenção, longitudinal (pré/pós-teste) que adotou metodologia quantitativa e qualitativa, subdivididas em duas etapas. Etapa I: Intervenção do tipo pré- teste/pós-teste utilizando a RV para melhorar o envolvimento em participação e reduzir as limitações em atividades de adultos com AVE. Os instrumentos COPM e P-SCALE foram usados para mensurar as mudanças no desempenho ocupacional e na participação, respectivamente. O programa de intervenção foi composto por três sessões semanais com duração de 40 minutos cada, durante 12 semanas. O videogame utilizado foi o Xbox 360 com sensores de movimentos ®KINECT que capta o movimento do corpo dos participantes. Etapa II: Abordagem qualitativa, fenomenológica, voltada para o universo de significados e experiência de pacientes sobre o uso da RV durante as sessões de reabilitação. RESULTADOS: Composto por 10 participantes, seis homens e quatro mulheres, a idade variou de 21 a 59 anos, o tempo de acometimento doAVE variou de 2 a 24 meses. As atividades relatadas na COPM estavam distribuídas nas categorias de autocuidado, atividades produtivas e atividades relacionadas ao lazer, com predominância de incapacidade nas atividades relacionadas ao autocuidado. Os domínios desempenho e satisfação da COPM nos dois momentos de avaliação (pré e pós-teste) apresentam aumento significativo (p<0.001) após a intervenção. O poder estatístico atingido para 10 sujeitos foi de 99%. Os resultados da participação com a P-Scale nos dois momentos de avaliação apresentam aumento significativo (p=0,046) após a intervenção e atinguiu um poder estatístico de 59,96%. A partir da análise das entrevistas, as seguintes categorias temáticas foram identificadas nas narrativas: (1) Perdas, rupturas e dificuldades pós AVE; (2) uso do vídeo game e seu potencial; e (3) melhora da funcionalidade e planos para o futuro Conclusão. A RV como recurso terapêutico mostrou se eficaz para alcançar mudanças significativas nos componentes de funcionalidade (atividade e participação) em pacientes com AVE.application/pdfhttp://bdtd.uftm.edu.br/retrieve/4591/Dissert%20Alberto%20L%20Aramaki.pdf.jpgporUniversidade Federal do Triângulo MineiroPrograma de Pós-Graduação Stricto Sensu em Atenção à SaúdeUFTMBrasilInstituto de Ciências da Saúde - ICS::Curso de Graduação em Enfermagemhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAtividades Cotidianas.Terapia de exposição à Realidade Virtual.Acidente Vascular Cerebral.Activities of Daily Living.Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy.Stroke.Actividades Cotidianas.Terapia de Exposición Mediante Realidad Virtual.Accidente Cerebrovascular.Saúde ColetivaOtimizando envolvimento em atividades e participação: um estudo utilizando a realidade virtual para adultos pós-Acidente Vascular EncefálicoOptimizing involvement in activities and participation: a study with the use of virtual reality for adults after strokeOtimizando involución en actividades y participación: un estudio con el uso de realidad virtual para adultos post-Accidente Vascular Encefálicoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisreponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações da UFTMinstname:Universidade Federal do Triangulo Mineiro (UFTM)instacron:UFTMLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
