Considering the soil as element integrator of the landscape, in the context of a watershed, the integration is basic enters the knowledge accumulated for farmers and technician, of form to improve the understanding of the factors that intervene with the dynamics of environments and the way as to manage them, in order to prevent irreversible damages to the natural resources. The present study it had as objective to stratify environments of a watershed, from the integration it enters the environmental of farmers and technician in relation to the limitations and potentialities of soil. The work was carried through in the watershed of the Riacho Vazante, Aratuba, Ceará, in the region of the Maciço de Baturité. It was used as cartographic base systematic leves, scales 1:100.000; ortofotocartas, scales 1:10.000 and soil half-detailed mapping of the watershed, scales 1:25.000. Participatives methodologies with to the farmers had been applied, in four communities of the watershed, with sights to the survey of the description of use and occupation of soil, the practical farmers and to the acquisition of knowledge on the environmental perception of the same ones. The maps of the digital model and declivity had been elaborated, that allies to the soil map, had assisted the technician in the interpretation of the environmental stratification made by the farmers. The area was stratified by the farmers in four environments: Quebradas (60.7%), Lombadas (22.0%), Chapadas (11.3%) and Baixios (6.0%), that they had mainly taken in account the relief and soil. The soil, in turn, had been identified and differentiated for the farmers, from attributes as texture, color, humidity, rock, fertility and vegetation. The lands had been fit, according to system of use capacity, in classrooms II (6%), III (31%), VI (42.5%) and VII (20.5%). The environmental stratification represented an important tool to integrate the knowledge of farmers and technician, being made possible to improve the characterization of the area for the planning of use of lands in sustainable bases.
